A história do primeiro encontro misterioso com Digimon! – Em 1999, o curta-metragem baseado nos mascotes virtuais chamado Digimon Adventure foi lançado. No entanto, pouco depois que o storyboard do filme foi concluído, em 1998, os produtores em Toei Animation haviam solicitado a transformá-lo em um programa de televisão também.
