H υπόθεση μας μεταφέρει στο Νεοχώρι της Κρήτης, την Αθήνα και το Γαλαξίδι, ξεκινώντας από την περίοδο της Κατοχής (1944) και φτάνοντας στα μέσα της δεκαετίας του 1960. Παρακολουθούμε το δράμα της παραδοσιακής οικογένειας του Μιχαήλου Φτενούδου να ξεκινά όταν η μικρή του κόρη μένει έγκυος από έναν Ιταλό ενώ ο πατέρας αργοπεθαίνει.
