Als die Sommerreinigungszeremonie näher kommt erzählt Tatsuo Satoru, dass er ein paar Freunde einladen soll. Er trainiert weiterhin als Mitglied des Kendouklubs, aber hat es noch nicht geschafft, das Eis zwischen ihm und den anderen Mitgliedern zu brechen. Eines Tages bricht ein Streit zwischen ihm und Kosugi aus. Deshalb muss er in einem Duell gegen Kinugawa, den Kapitän, antreten.
As the summer cleansing ceremony approaches, Tatsuo tells Satoru to invite some friends, which leaves him flustered. He continues to practice hard as a member of the kendo club, but he hasn't managed to break the ice with the other members. One day, he gets in a fight with Kosugi, another member, and ends up in a kendo match against Kinugawa, the captain.
