Richard Briers, of Good Life and Monarch of the Glen fame, gives the performance of a lifetime as Godfrey Spry, a man who incurs brain damage and, as a result, believes everything he hears in tv commercials. Gordon projects the shallow, vapid, and hollowly happy world of the tv advertisement onto his perception of ordinary life, causing him to become paralyzed after trying to imitate a car commercial and interpreting every event he sees through the optimistic consumerist lens of his commercials.
