1997 ATV swordplay series The Swordsmen combines plots and characters from Gu Long's wuxia classics Meteor, Butterfly, Sword and The Spirit of the Sword, and to date it is still acknowledged to be one of the best screen adaptations of Gu Long's marvelous works. Fan-favorite TV stars Damian Lau (Luk Siu Fung) and Norman Tsui (Reincarnated) play rival swordsmen opposite acclaimed actor Paul Chun as the arch-nemesis. ATV actors Lawrence Yan, Eric Wan, and actresses Erica Choi, Patricia Chong, Mak King Ting form the impressive supporting cast, which also includes beauty queen Kristy Yang early in her acting career. Produced by Sin Chi Wai of My Date with a Vampire fame, the action-packed wuxia drama features spectacular sword fight sequences choreographed by Ching Siu Tung's frequent collaborator Ma Yuk Sing (The Storm Warriors).
