生活困苦的生物系学生郑雨为了能够摆脱生活困境，在辛苦兼职支付母亲药费和还债的同时，努力争取学校“生机奖”奖学金。然而大三新学期开学不久，因病休学一年的陈砚周空降成为了生物系的专业第一名。郑雨视他为竞争对手，却又不得不多次与他合作力求共赢。两人在相处过程中，逐渐感受到彼此看似冷漠的外表下包裹着温暖的心。
