Season 1

A robbery of armored car guards morphs into a deadly hostage standoff, with bulldog Lt. Theo Kojak as the negotiator. Half the Talaba Brothers gang escapes with the cash, but when the other half is cornered, they invade a surplus store, crammed with guns and ammo. The robbers also have bargaining chips: the 5 people in the building, plus a badly wounded patrolman, who dove in the store to warn of the incoming robbers. While young Detective Bobby Crocker pursues the thieves who got away, his boss at Manhattan South, the dapper, bald Kojak smooth-talks Jerry Talaba to get the hostages out. Hothead Talaba demands a crewed, fueled 707 at JFK, or he'll start killing the hostages, then toss them out before the TV cameras and hundreds of spectators - one by one.

Un braquage de véhicules blindés se transforme en une prise d'otages mortelle, avec le lieutenant Theo Kojak comme négociateur. La moitié des frères Talaba s'échappe avec l'argent, mais lorsque l'autre moitié est acculé, ils envahissent un magasin de surplus, rempli d'armes et de munitions. Les braqueurs ont aussi des atouts pour négocier : les 5 personnes présentes dans le bâtiment, plus un patrouilleur grièvement blessé, qui a plongé dans le magasin pour avertir des braqueurs en approche. Alors que le jeune détective Bobby Crocker poursuit les voleurs qui se sont enfuis, son patron à Manhattan South, le dandy et chauve Kojak, fait des discours lénifiants à Jerry Talaba pour faire sortir les otages. Le fougueux Talaba exige un 707 avec équipage et carburant à JFK, ou il commencera à tuer les otages, puis les jettera dehors devant les caméras de télévision et des centaines de spectateurs - un par un.
