A story adapted from the life of a young Asada Tetsuya, a famous novelist and mahjong player. Shinjuku in 1946 after the Pacific War. Asada Tetsuya learns the secrets of mahjong (a Chinese board game) from an old man, Boushuu, his mentor. Asada quickly becomes a famous mahjong player, and he eventually earns a title, Saint Jong (Jong Sei).

Mahjong or mah-jongg (English pronunciation: /mɑːˈdʒɒŋ/ mah-JONG) is a tile-based game that was developed in the 19th century in China and has spread throughout the world since the early 20th century. It is played by four players (with some three-player variations found in parts of China, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, and Southeast Asia).
