تدور القصة حول أرملة طمّاعة وابنتها هناء التي تخشى على غرفة والدها المليئة بالكتب القديمة. تسمح هناء لخطيبة أخيها إنعام بالبحث في الغرفة، فتكتشف سرًا ثمينًا يغيّر حياتهم. تستغل الأم الاكتشاف لتصبح سيدة أعمال، وتتفاقم الخلافات، فتطلق هناء وتتزوج عبدالغني الذي يُقتل لاحقًا، لتتصاعد الأحداث.
