Logan's Run

A television series based on the movie of the same title wherein the entire planet is devastated by a nuclear holocaust and in the 23rd century various societies sprout everywhere and are totally oblivious of each other. One of these communities is the City of Domes wherein the citizens live in total bliss but because of limited space and resources, everyone who reaches the age of 30 is executed in an event called Carousel wherein they are told that they might be renewed in a new form. Now there are dissidents who don't believe the tales of the outside still uninhabitable because of the nuclear radiation. And they also believe of a place called Sanctuary where they can live in peace. These individuals are called Runners and they are hunted by men called Sandmen. One of these men is Logan, who questions whether being renewed actually happens and if the outside is uninhabitable. When he is sent to track down some runners, one of them Jessica who knows about Logan's doubts fuels them with what she knows and Logan decides to join her and they leave the city and search for Sanctuary. Francis, Logan's partner is tasked with trying to find him. Along the way they meet Rem an android, who helps them find their way and teach about the world they have entered.

Mais afin d'éviter les problèmes de surpopulation, leur vie s'arrête à l'âge de 30 ans, à moins de renaître lors de la mystérieuse cérémonie du Carrousel...

Nel XX secolo la Terra è stata sconvolta da una guerra nucleare globale. Duecento anni dopo i superstiti vivono divisi in piccole società autonome, come quella della città di Domes (la Città delle Cupole), edonistica e molto avanzata, nella quale, per ostacolare l'incremento demografico, è stata istituita una legge per cui tutti coloro che raggiungono l'età di trent'anni vengono sottoposti al rito del "Carousel" per essere rinnovati, ma in realtà vengono uccisi. Il protagonista, Logan 5, un sandmen (sorvegliante con il compito di sopprimere coloro che non vogliono sottostare al Carousel) si lascia convincere da Jessica 6 a ribellarsi a questa legge e a fuggire nel modo esterno, alla ricerca del luogo leggendario Sanctuary, ove regna la felicità e libertà assoluta, senza vincoli d’età. Inizia per loro un'odissea interminabile, inseguiti dai guardiani della città, tra cui l'amico di Logan, Francis-7, alla ricerca di una possibilità di vita in superficie e affiancati dall'androide Rem, diventato loro amico durante la fuga. In un continuo inseguimento, i protagonisti si confrontano ogni puntata con diverse e spesso bizzarre comunità che vivono isolate in una Terra devastata da un lontano e terribile conflitto di cui si sono perse le tracce nella natura, nella geografia e nella memoria degli individui, alla ricerca del Santuario che non verrà mai trovato.

La vida transcurre plácidamente en una megalópolis del siglo XXIII, una ciudad ultramoderna rodeada de cúpulas gigantescas hechas con un material semejante al cristal. En ella, sus parques resplandecen y las aceras están conectadas por laberintos. Sus habitantes dedican la mayor parte del tiempo a gozar de los placeres de la vida. Para ello cuentan con tiendas en las que pueden cambiar de personalidad y aspecto físico, gracias a la cirugía plástica instantánea. Sin embargo, al cumplir los 30 años, deben morir. Logan, un policía encargado de cazar a los que huyen de la muerte, decide también rebelarse y huir hacia el desierto que rodea la ciudad.
