Last spring, local government was reorganised: hundreds of councils were swept away and a rash of new names appeared on the map. Jack Pizzey and a Man Alive team went to one of these new creations, Kirklees - made up from Huddersfield, Batley, Dewsbury and other parts of the West Riding - to find out where the money goes and why so many ratepayers think it's wasted. Desmond Wilcox brings the ratepayers and the rate spenders together in the studio to ask whether there's a fairer way of paying for all the things local government provides.
