Season 1

  • S01E01 An Ensign for McHale

    Ensign Charles Parker reports for duty as the new Executive Officer of the PT 73, to a not-so-warm welcome from McHale and The Crew. But McHale is soon impressed by the Ensign, and persuades the boys to shape up, so that Parker can stay on as XO.

  • S01E02 A Purple Heart for Gruber

    Lester Gruber has been given the job of laundering Captain Binghamton's uniforms. When a Japanese sub fires on the PT 73, the uniforms are destroyed, and Lester's finger is scratched, prompting him to put in for a Purple Heart.

    McHale decides that what Ensign Parker really needs is a girl friend. He convinces Parker that he is suffering from an advanced case of battle fatigue so that he can be sent to the hospital, where McHale hopes that he will find Nurse Casey Brown to his liking.

    Binghamton grants McHale and the 73 Crew a week's liberty in New Caledonia, but they must postpone their trip, when the 73 turns up missing, and they have to scheme to get a replacement.

    When McHale and his men are assigned the duty of averting a Japanese attack on a US convoy, they use the soundtracks of movies starring John Wayne, Humphrey Bogart, and Errol Flynn to confuse the enemies.

    McHale tries to figure out a way for Christy and his true love, Lt. Gloria Winters, to get married, even though it is against regulations for an officer to marry an enlisted man. But the lovebirds have even more problems: Binghamton schedules maneuvers on the evening of the wedding, and the Japanese schedule an all-out battle.

    Chief Urulu demands monetary compensation from the Navy, for destroying the coconut trees on his island, and puts a curse on Binghamton, when he refuses to pay.

    A plane with the Singing Tyler Sisters aboard is forced down with engine trouble on a deserted island. McHale and The 73 Crew are sent to pick them up, with more than their rescue on their minds, but wind up being quite disappointed.

  • S01E09 McHale's Paradise Motel

    Binghamton sends McHale and The 73 Crew on a recon mission to a supposedly deserted island, where they make a "home away from home" to enjoy themselves, away from the base. But, the U.S. Navy, as well as the Japanese, become suspicious, when they observe unusual activity on the island.

    McHale and the boys cook up a scheme to keep Binghamton from building a new Officer's Club on McHale's island.

  • S01E11 The Day They Captured Santa Claus

    Mchale decides for Christmas he and the crew of PT-73 will pay a visit to Sister Monique and the children dressed up in a Santa Claus outfit and elf outfits. Mchale would parachute from a plane first and meet the kids and PT-73 would follow a little while after. Mchale jumps in his Santa outfit but when he lands he finds the island was overtaken by Japanese and was captured. Mchale as usual cons his way through the interrogation and he claims that a new secret weapon is on it's way, just then PT-73 arrives singing Christmas carols and dressed in elf outfits. The Japanese commander becomes scared fearing that this was some kind new of physiological warfare and he surrenders.

  • S01E12 Beauty and the Beast

    A Photo Journalist for the Office of War Information - an extremely unpleasant person, with whom McHale is familiar - is sent to Taratupa to do a story on PT Boats and their Crews. Through a case of mistaken identity, McHale and the boys are stuck with her, and must scheme to try to get rid of her.

  • S01E13 The Captain's Mission

    Binghamton’s reputation as a “desk jockey” brings on a desire for some real combat experience, so, while McHale is away at New Caledonia, he assumes command of the 73, and goes out looking for action, with disappointing results.

    A U.S. Congresswoman comes to Taratupa, to find a War Hero to take on a Stateside War Bond tour, and Parker and the boys help McHale to get chosen for the job, thinking that they will be going along.

    Another of Gruber's shady enterprises backfires, when Binghamton gets a taste of the delicious Polynesian cuisine that Fuji has been cooking up, for sale to the base personnel.

    Complications arise, when Gruber falsifies Parker's gunnery score to keep Parker from being shipped out.

    Christy finds out he's about to become a Father, so, while McHale is away in New Caledonia, Parker and the boys come up with a plan to raise money for expenses.

  • S01E18 One of Our Engines is Missing

    The 73's engines are dying, and Binghamton uses the situation as an excuse to have McHale and his Crew reassigned. So McHale and the boys must scheme, to try to make the 73 healthy again.

  • S01E19 The Natives Get Restless

    Some local natives - who depend on McHale and his men for their income - are up in arms over Binghamton's having made their village off-limits to McHale and his Crew. But Binghamton must re-establish good relations with them, for the upcoming inspection tour of The Undersecretary Of The Navy.

  • S01E20 The Confidence Game

    Parker requests a transfer, when he feels he's not getting the respect he deserves. So, to change his mind, and build up his self-confidence, McHale puts him in charge of an important test mission.

    The Navy has issued a directive stating that all overweight Combat Officers will be shipped out, and, when Binghamton goes all out to see that McHale goes over the weight limit, the boys cook up a plan to keep him with them.

  • S01E22 Washing Machine Charlie

    A pesky Japanese Pilot - whom the base personnel have dubbed "Washing Machine Charlie" - is wreaking havoc, with his daily strafing runs on Taratupa, and McHale and the 73 Crew have an incentive to bring him down.

    When a Japanese radio announcer broadcasts details about Captain Binghamton that only someone close to him would know, Binghamton immediately suspects McHale and The 73 Crew, and enlists Parker's aid in nailing the traitor.

  • S01E24 One Enchanted Weekend

    Lovely Yvette Gerard has invited Parker to join her for a weekend at her island home. When Binghamton denies him leave, McHale works up a plan for Parker to have a "working vacation" on the island, which winds up with an unexpected bonus.

    Trouble ensues, when Parker inadvertently invites three of the 73 Crew's Mothers - including his own - to visit Taratupa for Mother's Day.

    Binghamton schemes to get McHale chosen for a Liaison Officer's position, in Sydney, Austrailia. But, when McHale finds out that he will be going alone, and for the duration, he and his crew cook up a plan to get him off the hook.

    McHale and the 73 Crew are missing, and presumed dead, and Binghamton uses the situation for attention from a visiting War Correspondent.

  • S01E28 Portrait of a Peerless Leader

    A Naval Personnel Officer is coming to check out McHale for a stateside training position. Binghamton leads McHale and his crew to believe that the Officer is coming to check out Binghamton for a promotion, and transfer, so they shape up, so that Leadbottom will ship out. But, when McHale finds out the real reason for the Officer's visit, he and his crew cook up a plan, to get him off the hook.

  • S01E29 Instant Democracy

    Gruber does some shady trading with Chief Urulu involving Navy property, and McHale is arrested, and threatened with court martial. But Binghamton drops the charges, when he finds he needs help from Urulu and his tribe.

  • S01E30 Camera, Action, Panic

    A Combat Photographer comes to Taratupa, to film a P.T. crew in action. But trouble erupts, when Gruber swipes the Photographer's movie camera, for a little private enterprise. McHale and the 73 crew then have to scheme, to cover their own behinds, as well as the Photographer's.

  • S01E31 Alias Captain Binghamton

    The 73 gets a new crew member, who turns out to be a trouble-maker. McHale and the 73 crew cook up a wild plan to get rid of him, but, when their plan backfires, they find themselves in hot water again. So, they turn to their new Crewman, and use his special physical qualities to their advantage.

  • S01E32 Parents Anonymous

    McHale and the 73 crew return from a mission, to find that a young Asian orphan girl has taken up residence on their island. They decide to keep her on the island, and go all out to make a happy home for her, and to keep her a secret from Binghamton. But Binghamton becomes suspicious, when he observes the crew's unusual behavior.

  • S01E33 McHale's Millions

    The 73 Crew investigates the crash site of a Japanese transport plane, which is loaded with 4 million dollars' worth of American currency. McHale convinces the boys that the bills are counterfeit, and, later, Gruber trades the supposedly phony money to Urulu, for some island trinkets. But when they find out that the money is real, McHale and The Crew must scheme to get it back.

  • S01E34 The Hillbillies of PT 73

    Willy is devastated when he gets a letter from his best girl “ Back home, in the hills of Tennessee“ Informing him that she's marrying another man. So, McHale and the 73 Crew go all out to pick up his spirits. But Captain Binghamton wants everyone on their best behavior for the upcoming inspection tour of a certain budget-conscious V.I.P.

  • S01E35 The Monster of McHale's Island

    A Navy transport plane develops engine trouble, and is forced down at Taratupa. One of its passengers is an Admiral's Son, and a strict, by-the-book disciplinarian, as well as a spoiled brat. Binghamton sees to it that the kid is quartered on McHale's island, where he and his "little black book" cause quite a bit of trouble for McHale and his Crew. But McHale is soon fed up with the brat and takes matters into his own hands.

  • S01E36 Uncle Admiral

    An Admiral from Naval Operations “ Who just happens to be a ranking member of the Promotions Board“ Is stopping in, briefly, at Taratupa, and Captain Binghamton dreams of Admiral's stars, especially when he learns that the Admiral has a very close relative stationed on Taratupa.

Season 2

  • S02E01 The Day the War Stood Still

    During a search for some stolen goods, while McHale and the 73 Crew are out on a recon mission, Binghamton catches Fuji, and holds him as a spy. McHale and the boys then cook up a complicated plan to spring him.

  • S02E02 The Binghamton Murder Plot

    After laying some unusually harsh punishments on McHale and the 73 Crew, Binghamton mistakenly gets the impression that McHale and his men are out to kill him.

  • S02E03 McHale and His Schweinhunds

    Parker is feeling somewhat depressed, after getting scared during a chase after a Japanese patrol boat, especially after Binghamton accuses him of cowardice. But Binghamton changes his mind, when Parker – During a test run, on the 73 – Spots a German U-Boat, and goes after it.

  • S02E04 Is There a Doctor in the Hut?

    The boys need to get to New Caledonia, but Binghamton denies leave. He changes his mind, however, when he finds that Movie Star Rita Howard – On a brief layover at New Caledonia, and, of whom Admiral Rogers is a big fan – Has a ‘cousin’ on Taratupa.

  • S02E05 To Binghamton with Love

    McHale and The Crew are in hot water again, this time, over the mis-use of the 73. But Binghamton drops the charges, when he gets into a bit of hot water, himself, and needs help from McHale and the boys.

  • S02E06 Have Kimono, Will Travel

    While trying to prevent McHale and the 73 Crew from putting on a show for the Taratupa personnel, Binghamton winds up in trouble along with McHale and the boys, and has to put on a show, himself, to help get them out of it.

  • S02E07 Today I am a Man!

    Parker requests a transfer, when a cute blonde Nurse he's involved with unintentionally demoralizes him. So, McHale, The Crew, and the Nurse work out a plan to make him feel better about himself.

  • S02E08 Jolly Wally

    Eager to have a well-known War Correspondent do a story on him, Binghamton makes Parker – Who is the Correspondent’s childhood friend – The Base PR Officer. But Parker’s ideas for good press turn out to be not so good.

  • S02E09 Scuttlebutt

    Tinker's best girl dumps him for a fighter pilot, so, Gruber, and the rest of the Crew fabricate a tall rumor, to build Tinker up, in the eyes of his sweetheart.

  • S02E10 The August Teahouse of Quint McHale

    Binghamton is stressed out, and long past due for a leave, and McHale and the boys have a special reason to make sure he gets one.

  • S02E11 French Leave for McHale

    • November 26, 1963
    • ABC (US)

    McHale and the boys transport Binghamton to a staff meeting in New Caledonia, and to keep them out of trouble, Binghamton confines them to the boat. But McHale grants the boys 3 hours unauthorized liberty, during which they all get in trouble, including McHale, and are thrown in jail. But their troubles double when during their incarceration, the 73 gets “borrowed.”

  • S02E12 The Happy Sleepwalker

    Happy's sleepwalking leads Binghamton to ship him out of the combat zone.

  • S02E13 A Letter for Fuji

    The 73 Crew's heart-sick Japanese friend, Fuji, must get a letter to his best girl back home in Japan. But a secret mission to mail the letter from a Japanese-held island becomes complicated when Fuji's letter gets mixed up in Binghamton's plan to distribute propaganda leaflets to the enemy.

  • S02E14 My Ensign, the Lawyer

    Tinker is arrested for the theft of Binghamton's printing press, and The Captain taps Parker to be Tinker's Defense Counsel in a trial which Binghamton himself will preside over. Parker and McHale must then stall the proceedings while Gruber and The Crew execute a plan to get Tinker off the hook with a bit of creative evidence-tampering.

  • S02E15 Orange Blossom for McHale

    A new Navy directive ordering all married Officers to be shipped home prompts Binghamton to scheme to get McHale married off to a shady saloon-keeper by the name of Kate O'Hara, an old friend of McHale's. But neither Kate nor McHale want to tie the knot so they join forces to try to thwart Binghamton's plan.

  • S02E16 Creature from McHale's Lagoon

    Gruber and the guys try to make some money with some phony pearl oysters, but their scheme backfires, when a greedy Binghamton takes over their operation. Then, when Chief Urulu muscles in on Binghamton's business, McHale and The Crew put a stop to the whole operation, by taking advantage of an old native superstition, and some Japanese technology.

  • S02E17 A Medal for Parker

    • January 7, 1964

    Major complications develop when the guys send a chapter of Parker's war novel including a highly fictionalized account of his sinking of the biggest battleship in the Japanese fleet, to Parker's hometown girlfriend, in an attempt to help him win her heart.

  • S02E18 The Balloon Goes Up

    Binghamton is offered a promotion and transfer up to Fleet HQ, but must first reconcile a shortage in the base's equipment inventory. After all is accounted for, except for one item, a barrage balloon, McHale and the crew must race against time in order to locate it and bring it in, in time for Binghamton to be shipped out.

  • S02E19 Who'll Buy My Sarongs?

    A business venture involving the manufacture and sale of sarongs to the Base personnel, has the guys divided into two separate quarreling groups. When the feud escalates, Binghamton tries to take advantage of its effect on them, during a PT Crew efficiency test, their failure of which, would mean their being shipped out for re-assignment.

  • S02E20 Evil-Eye Parker

    When Binghamton refuses permission for McHale and the crew to put on a big show to raise funds for the local orphanage, Parker uses his newly-acquired skill as a hypnotist to make the Captain more agreeable. But the scheme is complicated by the visit of a Senator from the Armed Services Committee.

  • S02E21 The Great Impersonation

    Parker, a dead-ringer for an important British General, agrees to put his life on the line by posing as the General, to divert the attention of spies in New Caledonia, while the real General carries out a crucial invasion of a Japanese-held island.

  • S02E22 Urulu's Paradise West

    • ABC (US)

    Binghamton is ordered to purchase one of Chief Urulu's islands for the construction of a radar station. But Urulu, knowing that he's got the Navy 'over a barrel', inflates the price of his real estate to ridiculous levels. So McHale and the crew try to help the Captain out with a scheme to de-value the Chief's land.

  • S02E23 Dear Diary

    • February 18, 1964

    Binghamton gets hold of Parker's diary, which includes details of the crew's shady activities. After the guys steal the diary from the Captain's safe, Binghamton sets out to personally escort Parker to the Admiral. But after falling into enemy hands on the way, and being rescued by the 73 Crew, Binghamton changes his mind after some gentle persuasion by McHale.

  • S02E24 Babette Go Home

    • February 25, 1964

    The Navy is negotiating for the purchase of a nearby island for the construction of a new Supply Depot. But complications arise when the lovely daughter of the owner of the island stows away on the 73, so that she can be near Virgil.

  • S02E25 The Novocain Mutiny

    Fuji has a bad toothache, and McHale and the crew must figure out a way to get him in to the dentist during an inspection tour of the Fleet Medical Officer.

  • S02E26 Stars Over Taratupa

    • March 10, 1964
    • ABC (US)

    Five-time Oscar-winning Director John Burton comes to Taratupa to shoot a documentary on PT boats and their crews, and McHale and the crew successfully scheme to become the stars of the film. But when they find out that Fuji has sneaked into the production they must re-shoot the movie themselves with surprising results.

  • S02E27 Comrades of PT 73

    A Russian Naval Officer reports to McHale for PT Boat training, and soon, disgusted with the 73 crew's lack of discipline, asks to be assigned to another crew. But when Binghamton finds out that the chosen crew will be shipped out to Russia, he talks the Russian into staying with McHale. McHale and the guys must then work up a plan to get out of the situation.

  • S02E28 Return of Big Frenchy

    • March 24, 1964

    The French thief and con-artist first talks Binghamton out of a load of Navy supplies, then cons Parker into helping him get them to New Caledonia. McHale and the guys must then follow, rescue Parker, and recover the supplies.

  • S02E29 Alias PT 73

    • March 31, 1964
    • ABC (US)

    After being restricted to base by Binghamton, McHale and the guys mock up a damaged PT boat to look like the 73, so that they can sneak a load of building materials to a nearby island village to help the natives rebuild after an air raid. But complications develop when Admiral Rogers visits Taratupa to investigate.

  • S02E30 The Rage of Taratupa

    While temporarily assigned to the 73 Crew, a lazy, pampered, rock and roll star is captured by a Japanese patrol while out on maneuvers with McHale and the crew, and holds a captive audience making it easy for McHale and the guys to take prisoners.

  • S02E31 Ensign Parker, E.S.P.

    Parker has a premonition that Binghamton will be blown up in an air raid, and gets into big trouble when he tries to keep it from happening.

  • S02E32 The McHale Mob

    • April 21, 1964
    • ABC (US)

    Impressed by a gangster movie he's recently seen, Chief Urulu plays mob chieftain and refuses to sign the document allowing the Navy the use of McHale's island. So McHale and the crew, and even Binghamton, Carpenter, and Admiral Rogers, join forces and play their own mobster game to try to make Urulu change his mind.

  • S02E33 Carpenter in Command

    • April 28, 1964

    In temporary command of the base while Binghamton recovers from a broken leg, and drunk with power, Carpenter gets the goods on the crew and has them up for Court Martial on several serious charges. McHale and Parker must then scheme to get Binghamton back in command, and the boys off the hook.

  • S02E34 Marryin' Chuck

    • May 5, 1964

    Gruber and the guys pick up a few souvenirs during a mission, not knowing that they're valuable items stolen by the Japanese during the battle of Manila. When one of the items, a priceless antique tea set, winds up as a wedding present for an Admiral's daughter, McHale and the crew must make a hasty trip to New Caledonia where Parker must play the part of the officiating Chaplain as part of a scheme to get it back.

  • S02E35 The Dart Gun Wedding

    • May 12, 1964

    Binghamton bows to pressure from the snobbish, swinging-bachelor son of his former employer, in the hope of returning to his stateside job after the war. But when the pressure becomes too great, the Captain conspires with McHale and the 73 crew in a plan to get rid of him.

  • S02E36 A Da-Da for Christy

    Christy's little daughter is about to say her first words and his wife has arranged to have it broadcast to him via ham radio. Trouble begins when the crew tries to pick up the channel on an enemy radio, confiscated during a raid.

Season 3

  • S03E01 The Ghosts of 73

    When Binghamton discovers how superstitious McHale and the crew are, he devises a plan to scare them into transferring out. But when McHale and the boys find that they've been duped, they cook up their own plan to scare Binghamton into cancelling their transfers.

  • S03E02 Lester, the Skipper

    With his letters home, Gruber has led his girlfriend to believe that he's a Lieutenant Commander, and when the girl pays a surprise visit to Taratupa, McHale reluctantly agrees to help him save face, by allowing him to act out the part. The charade almost gets them into big trouble, but winds up working out for the good when it helps foil Binghamton's plan to have McHale assigned to a British Liaison's position.

  • S03E03 It's a Mad, Mad, Mad War

    Left alone on the 73 in New Caledonia while McHale attends a staff meeting and the Crew are on an unauthorized liberty, Parker receives the order from Binghamton to pick up the base payroll. After he's robbed of the $62,000, McHale and the guys frantically try to locate the cash before Binghamton can accuse them of the theft.

  • S03E04 McHale, the Desk Commando

    Binghamton fakes an illness and checks into the base hospital, appointing McHale as temporary Base Commander, to face an unscheduled inspection by a tough Admiral. But Binghamton's plan backfires when McHale and the crew manage to make it through the inspection and turn the tables on the Captain.

  • S03E05 McHale's Floating Harem

    • October 13, 1964

    Ordered to provide a safe haven for a Sultan and his three daughters, Binghamton is forced to send McHale and the 73 Crew to rescue the royal family and bring them to Taratupa. But when Virgil sneaks one of the Princesses away for a romantic boat ride, Parker must become her stand-in while the guys hustle to return the real princess before the Sultan and the captain discover that she's missing.

  • S03E06 Laugh, Captain, Laugh

    After Parker nearly drowns Binghamton during an accident on the 73, the Captain calls for a Fitness Board Inquiry to determine Parker's fitness for duty. McHale and the boys then execute a clever plan involving nitrous oxide, or 'laughing gas', to help Binghamton to change his mind, which backfires when an Admiral from the board arrives early to investigate Parker's situation.

  • S03E07 Will the Alligator Take the Stand?

    In an effort to get the goods on the 73 crew, Binghamton lures the boys into the hospital under false pretenses, and has them injected with sodium pentothal, or 'truth serum', which causes them to tell him everything he wants to know. McHale and Parker must then work up a plan to get them off the hook, by literally giving Binghamton a dose of his own medicine.

    After McHale defies Binghamton's orders and travels to a nearby town to attend his little cousin's birthday party, Binghamton tries to nail him on a desertion charge. But McHale manages to stay out of trouble when he and his look-alike Italian cousin, Giuseppe, assume each other's identities long enough to fool Binghamton and General Grayson.

    Gruber and the guys find a way to both make and deliver their homemade liquor when they build a mobile distillery in an old fire engine.
