Gerade noch so kann er mit Griffin, der ihm gefolgt ist, entkommen. Es stellt sich heraus, dass Standing damals sein altes Team verlassen wollte. In einem Brief, den er an einen Anwalt schrieb, hielt er alles fest, was in der korrupten Abteilung vor sich ging. Unglücklicherweise war auch der Anwalt bestechlich, weshalb der Brief bei seinem Chef Ackroyd landete.
