Series 267: Shapes Tuesday Different shapes are all around us and are a constant source of wonder to young children. This week in Play School we explore shapes through play. Learning about basic shapes helps children recognise numbers and letters and sets the building blocks for learning to read and write later on. Roll the cylinder in paint, or use paint brushes to cover each sponge in paint. Roll the cylinder on a piece of paper to make prints. This would make great wrapping paper! Use different shaped containers collected from your kitchen as building blocks and build a castle! Rectangular containers can be used to build the castle walls and round containers can be used as turrets. MAKE AND DO How to Make Dough You will need: - 2 cups plain flour - Decorations - 1 cup salt - 3/4 cup water - Different shaped biscuit cutters - Rolling pin - Straw - Ribbon - Baking tray, lined with ba
