Iron Prill Welding Experiment

I made iron using the old blower variant but using a larger diameter fan (30 cm rather than 25 cm). I did a longer smelt and a shorter smelt. The long smelt made 10 g of iron but the short smelt made 14 g sugesting that multiple shorter duration smelts may be more effective at producing iron rather than one long smelt. The iron was then put into a knife shaped mold and placed in a forge under a flattened tuyere to spread the blast ino a sheet. The iron in the mold partially welded and fused but didn't completely melt and it was broken in the middle. I put this down to the mold being too far under the tuyere blast as the coals above got white hot. I'm counting this as a partial sucess because the result could still be sharpened into some type of tool. The iron knife I made previously this was melted much more completely in its mold and further exeperimentation would be needed to re-learn this method of insitu casting.
