Manhunt

Michael a jeho skupina uprchnou Bellickovi, který je nucen přenechat velení FBI. Speciální agent Mahone se snaží rozluštit plány Michaelova útěku a T-Bag přijímá extrémní opatření, aby získal zpět svou ruku.

It is the morning after their escape from Fox River, and the inmates narrowly avoid being caught by Bellick as they jump onto a freight train. FBI Special Agent Alex Mahone has been assigned to their case and calls a press conference urging the public to turn in the "Fox River 8." Michael, Lincoln, Abruzzi, C-Note, and Sucre encounter a hunter and his daughter. He holds them at gunpoint until Abruzzi grabs the daughter and forces the hunter to give them his SUV and let them go. The escapees head for a location where Michael has things stored. Agent Mahone tracks Michael's credit card to a storage facility in Oswego, but quickly figures out that one of Michael's tattoos holds the real location. Michael's tattoo "Ripe Chance Woods" is a clue pointing to a cemetery where Michael has items buried in the grave of "E. Chance Woods." Just two steps behind, Agent Mahone arrives at the scene just as the inmates have gathered what they need. In the meantime, T-Bag discovers a veterinary clinic and forces the Vet to re-attach his severed hand. Dr. Sarah Tancredi recovers from her overdose. Inside her purse, she finds an origami swan left for her by Michael with a message, "There's a plan to make all of this right", and a code. The code is a series of numbers which reads 3221243324 for the first line, 4221312231 for the second, and 23133121 for the third. Veronica locates Terrance Steadman in Montana, and finds that the doors are locked from the outside, holding him hostage (albeit willingly). Veronica calls 911, and then talks to Lincoln and tells him what she has learned. Employees of The Company arrive and kill Veronica for having unraveled their plot and for having found Steadman. Lincoln hears Veronica's final words as she dies, and is consumed with grief. Mahone studies Michael's tattoos, and feels that they are the key to finding the escapees.

Huit heures après l'évasion, le groupe est réduit à Sucre, Scofield, Burrows, Abruzzi et C-Note. Sur le point d'être rattrapés, un train de marchandises leur permet d'échapper temporairement à leurs poursuivants. T-Bag, abandonné par les autres, n'est pas encore hors course et cherche à faire recoudre sa main au plus vite. Bellick doit partager la traque avec le FBI dont l'agent de tête Mahone découvre le secret du tatouage de Scofield et le suit de près. Veronica échoue en voulant prouver que Terrence Steadman est toujours vivant. Elle est assassinée dans la maison où il est retenu prisonnier.

Sono passate otto ore dalla fuga e Michael, Lincoln, Sucre, C-Note e Abruzzi tentano di sfuggire alle guardie che li inseguono. Al Fox River intanto, giunge il brillante agente dell'FBI Alexander Mahone che poco dopo tiene una conferenza stampa rassicurando gli americani che i fuggitivi sono i massimi ricercati nel Paese e che saranno catturati nel più breve tempo possibile. Le condizioni di Sarah appaiono critiche in seguito all'overdose; tuttavia, la mattina seguente si risveglia dal coma e viene a sapere che è coinvolta nelle indagini sull'evasione. Veronica si confronta con Terrence Steadman e lo convince che la cosa migliore sia quella di uscire allo scoperto chiamando la polizia. T-Bag, messa la mano tagliata in un frigo da viaggio, si reca presso un medico veterinario della zona con l'intenzione di farsela riattaccare. Anche fuori dal carcere, Michael riesce a prendersi gioco delle guardie: l'unico che però sembra tenergli testa e capire le sue mosse è l'agente dell'FBI che esaminando le foto dei suoi tatuaggi a poco a poco cerca di ricomporre il suo piano all'interno e, soprattutto, fuori il Fox River, il piano cioè che ha costruito per andare a Panama. Lincoln telefona a Veronica: in quel momento bussa alla porta della casa-bunker di Steadman un gruppo di uomini vestiti di nero che anziché aiutare la ragazza la uccidono immediatamente e si sbarazzano subito dopo del suo corpo.

Agent Mahone spräcker koden till Michaels flyktplaner och T-Bag tar till extrema åtgärder för att få tillbaka sin hand.
