I am a big fan of 4S FPV quadcopters - particularly the GEPRC Rocket. I have both versions - the Rocket Plus with a full DJI Air unit and the Rocket Lite with the Caddx Vista. They are durable and a blast to fly. When I recently broke two of the prop guards in an epic crash, I decided that I would not replace them, but instead, remove them to see if flying without them would improve the Rocket's performance. And, spoiler alert, it definitely did. I did fly a bit more cautiously without the guards, but I flew faster and more gracefully...at least it seemed that way to me. Check it out and let me know what you think!
If you need to bind your TinyHawk 3 with the Emax E8 transmitter, or another transmitter using the D8 protocol, this video demonstrates two methods of binding.
If you are considering buying a Eahora M1P eScooter, this video will show you what the Eahora Emars M1P scooter is all about. It's a big, beefy bike with plenty of power for a heavy middle aged dude like me. And it really goes when my lightweight 16 year old son hops on it! It is fun to ride but definitely not for everyone. See if the Eahora M1P is the right eBike for you!
If you are considering buying a Eahora M1P eScooter, this video will help guide you through the assembly process. While it's not too hard to assemble, there are a few "gotchas" that you need to look out for as you assemble your M1P scooter. This video will help you avoid those issues.
The ZMO VTOL (vertical takeoff and landing) Aircraft is set up to work with the DJI Digital FPV V1 system which means you can just bind it directly to your DJI radio and goggles and start flying. It's pretty simple to assemble, made from highly durable materials and beginner friendly. It's designed to take off and land vertically, so you don't need a big runway. But you do need some open space.
Here comes the sun!
I'm very excited to dive into the EVO Lite + drone. In this video I unbox and set up the drone from the Premium Bundle. If you wonder whether the Premium Bundle is worth the extra cost then this video shows you everything that it comes with. Note that this not a full review, just the unboxing and setup of the EVO Lite +. I'm flying the EVO Lite + now and will do a full review of this new camera drone after I've had the opportunity to fly and test it for at least a few weeks. Please check back for that full review soon!
We had a lot of fun with this review. The Thinking P16 is the smallest digital tiny whoop we’ve flown so far. Though we have some minor complaints, overall it’s a great little quad. The fact that it can handily carry a small action camera is an added bonus which surprised us, and really makes this fun quad into a useful tool that can be used to get amazing indoor shots around people.
In case you purchased your Thinking P16 with a different receiver and would like to install Crossfire, here's quick video showing the process.
The Rotor Riot Solder Free FPV Kit is a very interesting take on building your own FPV kwad. It is targeted at novice builders and claims allow just about anyone to build their own FPV quadcopter. But how hard is it to actually build? And once built, how does it fly?
The power wires on the GEPRC Thinking P16 were bending too much until we tried inserting the battery the other way. After a simple modification, this seems like the best way to position the battery.
If you want to get into flying FPV quads the barrier to get started can seem big. EMAX now has a full function FPV drone in an affordable, ready to fly kit. This kit comes with the quad, battery, goggles, controller, and everything else you need to get started flying FPV. The EZ Pilot Pro is pretty much ready to go out of the box, but can also be flown in angle (beginner), horizon (intermediate) and air/acro (pro) modes, so it can adapt as you become a better FPV pilot. This video will show you what's in the box and give you a few tips to help you avoid problems as you begin your FPV journey.
The owners of the Ao5 Art Gallery asked me to do a FPV fly through of their new art space in northwest Austin. They have a wide collection of amazing and vibrant artwork. I have to admit that I was a bit nervous to fly past art pieces that cost thousands of dollars with a big group of people watching.
Kai is being chased by Kris. Kai is flying the OMP Hobby ZMO VTOL and Kris is following with his Emax Babyhawk 2 HD. Video recording is from the Caddx Peanut camera.
Cynova has 2 products that I find very useful. The Cynova LED landing pad and the Cynova backpack for the Mavic 3. The landing pad is the heavier, foldable kind that protects almost any drone from rocks, grass, and dust. And with the colorful LEDs, the landing pad is easy to see in low light situations. It is rechargeable and has a variety of settings for the lights. The backpack includes a foam insert specific to the Mavic 3, 4 batteries and accessories like the charger and lens filters. This backpack also includes a ton of extra features like padded velcro dividers, a retractable key chain, a rain fly, and much more.
The DJI Action 2 is quickly becoming my favorite action camera because of it's size and amazing image stabilization. And this tiny remote control and tripod / selfie stick makes it even better. You can control the camera, change modes, and ensure that it is recording when it's mounted to your favorite cinewhoop FPV quad!
The Drone Mask is a high quality optical mask that allows you to fly your camera drone or any other drone that uses an app on your phone with goggles. This style of flying, known as FPV (First Person View) is very immersive and can help eliminate distractions if you are trying to get the "perfect shot" with your camera drone. Drone mask does not have any electronic components and works with any drone app from any manufacturer. So whether your fly DJI, Autel, Parrot, or any number of other drones that have an iOS or Android app that provides a live camera view, this system should work for you. In this video, we test the Drone Mask with both a DJI Mini 2 and Autel EVO Lite+
Which one is the better choice: Mavic 3 or An Apple? This video should clear up that very common question.
In this video, Kris demonstrates how to get the free ReelSteady upgrade from GoPro, if you already own ReelSteady GO.
In this video, Kris demonstrates how to take screen shots and screen recordings on the DJI RC Pro, and how to transfer the files to PC, Mac, and an SD card.
GEPRC has done it again with the Mark 5 HD. It's a ready to fly freestyle quadcopter that has so many features it will make your head spin! It comes in 4S or 6S with DJI Air, Caddx Vista or Analogue FPV setups. It also had Bluetooth built in so that you can use field configuration apps like Speedybee to set up the quad or change settings in the field. This video has alot of flight footage of the quad carrying a variety of cameras including a GoPro Hero 9, Insta360 R, and the DJI Action 2. This quad can handle everything from full size action cameras like the Hero 9/10 down to the tiny Peanut.
If you fly the DJI FPV quadcopter, you've probably broken some propellers, and that's okay! Master Airscrew is a manufacturer of aftermarket propellers for a variety of DJI drones including the DJI FPV drone. But should you trust your drone to aftermarket props? This video goes through the features and differences of the DJI original props and the Master Airscrew aftermarket props for the DJI FPV quad. We'll also show you flight footage with both the originals and the Master Airscrews!
In this video, Kris demonstrates how to wirelessly transfer small files, such as images, from the DJI RC Pro to a Mac, iPhone, Android phone, and Windows PC.
If you are getting into FPV and not sure which quad to start with, this video will give you guidance. There are many excellent, ready-to-fly FPV quadcopters on the market, but some are better suited for beginners for a variety of reasons that we'll cover in this video. This video is intended to help beginners who have not already invested in FPV equipment.
The Emax Babyhawk 2 (analog version) can cruise around nicely while carrying a GoPro Hero 5 Session. In this video, Kris tests his luck flying around Lady Bird Lake and Waterloo Park, in Austin, TX. GoPro's new Reelsteady, built into the Player app, was used to stabilize the footage from the Hero 5 Session.
In this video, Kris tries out longer control sticks on the #DJI RC Pro. Do they make a difference in the ability to fly the DJI Mavic 3 more precisely? Do they look cooler than regular sticks on the DJI RC Pro? Check to the video to find out!
EXO Drones has been investing in advertising and marketing lately, but are their drones legitimate camera drones for serious aerial photographers? In this video we take an in-depth look at the Blackhawk 2 Pro from EXO Drones. It's a small, foldable drone with some impressive specs. But does it live up to the advertising hype? Check out this video to learn if you can truly get beautiful video and photos from the EXO Blackhawk 2 Pro. And also what compromises you might expect for the lower price tag.
Master Airscrew is known for making propellers that are quieter and increase your flight time. We did multiple tests and were surprised by the results.
If you are looking for a sub 250 gram camera drone, the EXO Mini Pro has great specifications. But how does it fly? And how does the footage look? This video will give you an idea of whether this new mini drone is worth the cost or not.
Sometimes it's just nice to get out and fly FPV.
Here are 10 things that might be helpful to you, when dealing with cached files on the DJI RC Pro. Using an SD card to store your cached video recordings frees up space to take screen recordings and screen shots (since they are saved to the internal storage). Also, transferring cached files to a computer from an SD card might suit your workflow better, as digging around the android file system for them, from a computer directly plugged into the RC Pro, can often be tedious.
I got the EVO Lite Plus in February of 2022 and it has been my primary camera drone for the last 6 months. So how does it stack up to the competition? Is it a worthwhile camera drone in 2022 and beyond? Should you get the EVO Lite Plus or the slightly less expensive EVO Lite? This video goes in depth on the EVO Lite Plus and tells you all the things that I like about it and a few things I don't like. There's also 4K footage from Colorado, New York, Arizona, New Mexico, California and (of course) Texas to see what the footage actually looks like in a variety of conditions.
Flying a drone as a beginner can be overwhelming. In this video, we discuss 5 tips to empower every new drone pilot to be successful in this hobby! These are very big picture tips designed to help people who have never flown a drone - or maybe tried once and had a bad experience - get started in the hobby that we all love!
360 video on a drone can make amazing and compelling video but it can be difficult to make it look good. Insta360 has come up with a solution - the Insta360 SPHERE. This camera is designed specifically to go on the DJI Air 2 and DJI Air 2S. It fits easily onto the drone and is designed to make the drone invisible in the footage. In this video we test the 360 SPHERE and show footage that has been processed in the Insta360 software. There are some issues with this camera and we go through everything - the good, the bad and the beautiful footage!
Flying FPV can be a bit nerve racking for those of us who are just learning. But when you add water to the mix, it is even more so. Here are a couple of flights that I did this summer on a small island in the St. Lawrence River. It's less than 1 acre of land with water all around, so I played it pretty safe for both flights. But the video turned out really pretty - especially the time I was flying around sunset. The first sequence is with the GEPRC MARK V and the DJI Action 2 Camera. The second sequence is with the GEPRC ROCKET using the onboard DJI AIR UNIT recording.
Cinewhoops tend to feel heavy, have disappointing flight time, or just fly poorly in general. The GepRC "CineLog 35 Performance" was build to defy all those negative conceptions. In this video, Kris shares his experience (both good and bad) after flying the CineLog 35 Performance with the GepRC ELRS TinyRadio.
Before the DJI AVATA was officially announced, we had heard many rumors about it, but I was not convinced that I wanted to fly it, and even less convinced that I wanted to spend over $1,000 on it. But once the release happened and I watched a few reviews, I realized that it was something I wanted to buy and fly. This video outlines the 5 reasons that I ended up shelling out almost $1,500 of my hard-earned cash for the DJI AVATA. Hopefully this video will help you decided if you want to buy the AVATA or pass on purchasing the DJI AVATA.
Insta360 has a camera specifically designed to capture 360 footage on the DJI Mavic Air 2 and Air 2S. This camera is called the Insta360 Sphere. And while the Sphere, and 360 cameras in general, can produce some amazing effects in both photos and videos, there is an extra step involved in editing the footage. This video will walk you through the free Insta360 software and teach you the basics of making amazing 360 videos! Whether you are using the Insta360 Sphere, or one of Insta360's other cameras, the techniques are very similar. So don't let a lack of experience with editing software stop you from using a 360 camera! This video will help you get started with editing your next 360 masterpiece!
The DJI AVATA is the latest FPV "Cinewhoop" style drone from the leading drone manufacturer DJI. It has ducted propellers, GPS stabilization, and stabilized flight modes. FPV can be challenging and requires some practice. Is the DJI AVATA good for FPV beginners? Is it good for drone beginners in general? In this video, we take our first flights of the DJI AVATA in "normal" (stabilized) flight mode to see how it does in a small park full of obstacles. We also switch it over to "manual" (not stabilized) flight mode to see how it performs with gaps and freestyle flying. If you are considering getting into FPV quacopters, check out this video to see if the DJI AVATA might be a good choice for beginners - or if it is just alot of hype!
Want to get into flying FPV but not sure where to start or how much it might cost? This video breaks down 6 different FPV drones and everything you need to fly them. For this video we only looked at quads that have the DJI digital FPV system - meaning that they have a AIR or VISTA video transmitter / radio receiver unit installed - or they use DJI's Occusync system - in the case of the DJI FPV and DJI AVATA. We compared what it costs to buy EVERYTHING you need to fly - Remote Control, Goggles, Drone, Battery Charger, Action Camera, and 1 Battery. Of course, you will probably want to buy more than one battery when you get started, but for the sake of comparison, our pricing assumes the average price for one 4S, 6S or DJI proprietary smart battery.
If your drone crashes in a large field or among the trees, and the battery disconnects, or you don’t have a beeper on it, a bluetooth tracker might help you locate your drone faster. Which one is better: the Tile Sticker or Apple’s AirTag?
After a mild AVATA crash, I noticed a lot of vibration in the FPV view during my next flight. We changed a slightly nicked prop, but it didn't fix the camera shake. Then we noticed that one of the rubber dampeners, connected to the camera assembly, had disconnected.
The DJI Avata and DJI Vista / Air unit systems don't share the same channel numbers. This can cause confusion when flying with other FPV pilots. In this excerpt from our First Friday livestream, Kai explains how to avoid FPV video interference.
The new form-factor of GoPro's upcoming Hero 11 Black Mini is intriguing from an FPV pilot perspective.
I wanted to see how well the DJI AVATA would work as an actual cinewhoop to fly through a busy sports bar packed with sports fans. I got permission from my buddy who owns the Haymaker in Austin, Texas.
Don't use the same boring whoosh sounds over and over again! In this video, Kris describes his process to customize any ambience recording and create a transition / speed ramp sound effect that you can apply to your drone videos. Perfect for flying past or through gaps with FPV drones.
The Emax E8 Transmitter does work with Mac FPV simulators. The problem we ran into before was that, in D16 mode, the roll axis doesn't work on Intel Macs. It seems to function properly in D8 mode though.
DroneMask just released the new and improved version of their DroneMask product. It is designed to give you a first person view while flying a camera drone. Instead of having your phone mounted on your controller, the DroneMask 2 puts the screen right in front of your eyes. The result is an immersive flying experience that only FPV can give you. The DroneMask 2 doesn't have any electronic components, so it works with any camera or FPV drone that uses your phone to give you the live view of the drone's camera. You can use it for a Mavic Mini, Mavic Mini 2, Mavic Mini Pro 3, Mavic Air, Air 2S, Mavic 2 Pro, Mavic 2 Zoom, Mavic 3, DJI FPV, and DJI AVATA.
If you are looking for a high quality 360 camera that won't break the bank, the Insta360 X3 may be just what you are looking for. It has 2 48MP sensors that look fantastic when shooting during the day. It has a ton of built in features like stabilization, reframing, hyperlapse, HDR modes, and more. And it works great on FPV drones! In this video we show you some things we have been doing with the Insta360 X3 for the last few months and give you real world examples of the kind of unique and interesting shots you can get with this camera. While it does not have a one inch sensor like some other 360 cameras, the pricing is considerably less than those other 360 cameras, so it might be worth considering as a lower cost alternative.
If you are considering a camera for your FPV quadcopter, the DJI Action 2 has been a great choice for a couple of years. But with the release of the GoPro Hero 11 Black Mini, does DJI have some real competition on the FPV video capture space? Does the GoPro Hero 11 Black Mini stabilize better? Does the GoPro Hero 11 Black Mini look better when you are ripping through some power loops? In this video, we mounted a DJI Action 2 and a GoPro Hero 11 Black Mini side by side on a 5 inch freestyle quadcopter made by Rotor Riot to see which one looks better. We also flew the GoPro Hero 11 Black Mini alone on the Rotor Riot 5" freestyle quad to see how the quadcopter performed with the somewhat heavy action camera mounted to it. Check out the side-by-side footage to see which one looks better to you and to see if you think the GoPro Hero 11 Black Mini is worth the upgrade from the DJI Action 2.
In this video, Kris shows how to bind the DJI Avata with the DJI V2 Goggles and the DJI Remote Controller 2. If they are on an early firmware, the goggles and controller need to be updated before they will bind. This can be done using a computer (for the controller and goggles), or on a phone/mobile device, but only for the goggles.
Insta360 has 3 flagship 360 cameras with different features and prices, but which 360 camera is right for you? Are you a casual creator who wants something low cost, easy to use, and great for everyday use? Or are you more of an adventurer...or even a drone pilot who is looking for an action camera that also does 360 pictures and video? Or are you a pro who wants to take high quality video and photos for professional projects?
Want something fun to play with? This little flying UFO is oddly fun and kind of addicting to play with. It has bright UFO color lights and a propeller to make it fly! You can throw it in the air and catch it. You can throw it to your friend. Or you can drive your dog crazy with it! Great gift for kids or adults who act like kids...like us!
Emax's new Transporter 2 HD goggles work with the HD Zero video system, which is a low latency option for FPV racing pilots who want a more clear video feed than analog FPV systems provide. In this video, we try out these low budget goggles with Emax's Hawk Apex quad.
The best all around camera drone for 2023 (IMHO) is… ...revealed in this video. This drone has a great camera, can handle the wind, is travel-friendly, and much more. There are many great drones available in the market today. All of them have amazing cameras, long flight times, and rock steady stabilization. And while some excel in one or two specialized things, this drone, the one that I picked is good at EVERYTHING! It may not be the BEST at everything, but collectively, it ticks all of the check boxes that a camera drone should check in 2023! If you are looking for a versatile camera drone that you can take on adventures in 2023, then you won't want to miss this video and find out which one I recommend. Please let us know what you think and which drone is your favorite for 2023!
If you are changing the propellers on the DJI Mini 3 Pro, be careful not to strip the tiny Phillip's head screws that hold the props in place! If you do, you may have a drone that won't fly. In this video we tell you how to avoid stripping the propeller screws in the Mini 3 Pro by using the proper sized screwdriver and aligning the screwdriver correctly.
The DJI Mini 3 (+ Mini 3 Pro) and the DJI Avata are both amazing, easy to fly drones. But which one is right for you? The Avata is a FPV cinewhoop drone while the Mini 3 and Mini 3 Pro are camera drones with a gimbal for camera stabilization. The are both amazing drones, but if you want to buy one, it's good to know the key differences between them. This video breaks down the fundamental differences between the Mini 3 (and Mini 3 Pro) as well as the DJI Avata FPV drone. The purpose of this video is to help you make an informed decision about which drone you should buy!
How fast is your FPV quadcopter going as you dive a light tower? How high did your FPV drone climb? How far did your FPV quad go during your last flight? These questions can be difficult to answer with an FPV quadcopter. But there is a way to answer all those questions AND overlay all that information on your FPV flight footage. Insta360 has enabled you to drop real time stats on top of your footage for a long time using their mobile app on your phone. But with the Insta360 GPS remote, you can do the same thing with your FPV quadcopter. But how accurate is it? Can the GPS and barometer keep up with the speed of your quad?
If you own the DJI AVATA, you might have seen the different EIS or electronic image stabilization options of HorizonSteady, RockSteady or completely off (no electronic image stabilization). There are tradeoffs to each of these options, but they all have their place. In this video we cover how to change between HorizonSteady, RockSteady and no stabilization. We also show you examples of how each looks in different flight situations (indoors, outdoors, etc.) and when it makes sense to use each one.
With the DJI Avata's new firmware, in order to take off, a phone or tablet running the DJI Fly app is needed. In this video we try different things to find out exactly what is required to avoid the remote ID error. Everything from turning off location services, to putting the phone in airplane mode, to completely unplugging the phone mid-flight to see what happens.
In the interest of education, Kris shares his account of how he lost a chunk of the tip of his finger to the DJI Avata. He was testing out the CSC, or combination stick command, when things went south!
FPV Over Frozen(?) Lake - Flying On Thin Ice!
If you're looking for toy drones that are actually fun AND develop essential drone flying skills, this lineup of Tomzon drones does not disappoint! With their brightly colored LED lights, these mini drones look great in the air, and are safe to fly indoors and around people, since the propellers are guarded. These toy drones can be flown in small spaces and are good, clean fun for all ages!
EMAX has a brand new Cinewhoop style drone that has the DJI O3 Air Unit in it. The drone is called the CineHawk and it's the latest digital FPV drone from EMAX. This means that it can capture 4K stabilized footage without a gimbal and without the need to strap another action camera on top of the quad. But how does the video look? In this video, we put the EMAX CineHawk through it's paces both indoors and outdoors. We compare the footage to the DJI Avata and we see how well the EMAX CineHawk works when flying through a high end house shooting FPV footage for realtors. We also crash it a few times and see how rugged it can be.
The DJI Action 2 and the DJI O3 Air Unit have the same sensor size, and share most of the same specs, but how different does the footage look when comparing the two cameras? In this video, we record FPV flight footage with each of the cameras on the same recording settings that they share. All footage was stabilized in-camera with DJI's Rocksteady. No ND filters used.
The DJI Mini is one of the most popular drones of all time. Can this $250 drone from Potensic, the Atom SE, that looks very similar to a DJI Mini, compete? Is the camera good? How is the flight experience? Does the electronic image stabilization work well enough to compensate for the fact that it doesn't have a gimbal? Is it worth $250? In this video we test the Potensic Atom SE to see if it's a worthy competitor to DJI's smallest line of drones.
The Flywoo LR 4 Explorer is a sub 250 gram FPV quadcopter with a great power to weight ratio and range to spare. With the DJI O3 Air Unit FPV transmissions system, this tiny drone can go just about anywhere! While it's not specifically a freestyle quad, it's agile and you can pull some tricks with it. And while it's not a racing drone, it's fast and can keep up with many things that you would want to chase. And while it can't really carry an external camera, the DJI O3 Air Unit with Rocksteady stabilization gives a good, well stabilized, quality image straight off the onboard camera!
Crashing is a part of flying FPV quads. Sometimes it's not easy to retrieve a crashed drone. In this video, Kelly attempts to help Scot (@srich512) rescue his quad from the roof of this abandoned building...but will teamwork be enough to save his beloved basher? Rescuing drones is another reason you don't fly alone!
Thinking about getting an electric bike or ebike? Troxus makes some interesting ebikes including the Troxus Explorer Step Over 26". This is a rugged looking fat tire bike with a 750 watt hub motor, throttle control and pedal assist. This bike has a lot of features and it competitively priced, but is it worth it?
Syma's $150 camera drone leaves a lot go be desired. It doesn't have an SD card slot, the app is confusing, and the GPS is iffy at best. In this video, I test it out and let you know what I think. Syma is a good brand that makes excellent toy grade drones, but can it compete in the low cost GPS camera drone market?
If you are considering buying a camera drone with an app that says it can do waypoints and it costs less than $500, be suspicious! After more than 10 years of flying drones (yes, I started in 2013), I have come to realize that this "middle ground" of drone pricing is almost always a disappointment. While companies like Syma, Hubsan, Potensic, Holy Stone, and others make great little toy drones for less than $50 - their more expensive, $100 - $300 camera drones generally suck. They have low quality cameras, insufficient or non-existent image stabilization, sub-par GPS, and too many other issues to name. And the sad part is that many people mistakenly buy one of these drones thinking they are "upgrading" from a simple, cheap toy drone - only to be very disappointed and give up on flying altogether.
DJI just released the Mavic 3 Pro which has 3 different cameras that you can use for different drone video and photography applications. But what is different about the Mavic 3 Pro, the Mavic 3 Classic and Original Mavic 3? In this video we do a quick look at these three amazing camera drones and help you determine if upgrading to the Mavic 3 Pro is worth it for you.
We recently had the opportunity to fly through an office and warehouse space for one of our clients. We used the DJI AVATA in horizon lock mode and worked with their team to coordinate people throughout the office. We thought that the result turned out pretty amazing! It took about 5 takes to get the result we wanted. Take a look and let us know what you think!
Master Airscrew is known for advertising their props to be more efficient, less noisy, and more colorful than DJI's. While we rarely have had negative experience with Master Airscrew's props, these 4-bladed Avata props seem to check all the boxes! Longer flight time -- by a significant amount, slightly quieter, definitely less annoying, and of course colorful.
Looking for a Power Bank to keep your drones and other devices charged and running? This Anker Power Bank is a fantastic option to keep your drones, cameras, phones, lights, laptops, and even coffee makers running when you don't have access to normal wall power. This video takes an in-depth look at the Anker 555 Portable Power Station, which features a next-generation LiFePO4 battery, six AC outlets, super fast USB-C, and good old USB-A plus a car "cigarette lighter" for your older devices. This thing is well built and built to last with a five year warranty.
In this video, we give 5 tips that may be helpful to you if you fly the DJI Avata with the FPV Controller 2 abs in manual mode.
Flywoo has released the Firefly Nano Baby v2 in two frame types: True X, and Deadcat. There are advantages to each one. In this video, Kris describes what it’s like flying each quad, what he did to get them set up, what problems he encountered, and which options provide the best flying experience. Flywoo has been known to release CLI command updates to be pasted into the Betaflight configurator to update the quads, and they actually made some great improvements with these Firefly Nano drones, as described in this video.
I've always liked the Syma lineup of toy drones and have been recommending them to beginner drone pilots and kids as a way to develop their flying skills. The Syma X440 is a travel-friendly quadcopter, thanks to its detachable arms, and has an impressive 9 minutes of indoor flight time.
If you fly drones, you know the fun of flying fast and free. With a good quality RC car, you can do the same thing - you are confined to the ground but it is still an exhilarating experience. In this video we check out an inexpensive, yet high quality 4 wheel drive, brushless motor RC buggy from Geekbuying. Thanks to Geekbuying for providing the car for us to test!
If you are looking for an inexpensive, yet high quality camera drone, the Potensic Atom SE looks pretty good on paper. Potensic promises that the Atom SE will deliver smooth video and sharp pictures. However, when we conducted our initial review of the Potensic Atom SE a few months ago, the results were underwhelming. The image stabilization was horrendous, it wouldn't hover, but kept toilet bowling instead, and the range wasn't great.
Flying analog FPV with HD Zero goggles hasn't been good until this update. In fact, it seems to be better than our analog goggles, but how stable is this firmware update? Time will tell, but so far, we've not had any problems with it. For a quick look at HD Zero and what the flight footage looks like, check out this video!
After getting permission from the crane operator and the HVAC crew, we got some camera drone and FPV footage of the process of replacing the unit.
We were wondering how to update the ELRS receiver on the Emax Hawk Pro. After contacting Emax customer support, we learned which target to choose in the ELRS configurator, however, there were some problems that we ran into. Kris explains the details in this video.
The Babyhawk O3 is finally here. This is a small, light weight (sub 250 grams with the right battery) 4S FPV quad that is a TON OF FUN to fly! The Babyhawk has been around for a while and this one makes one major improvement with the DJI O3 digital FPV unit. It is fast agile, and captures amazing, stabilized 4K footage without the need for an external camera - you can get great footage straight off the DJI O3 camera. EMAX also released an Express LRS module for some older radios so that you can enjoy the performance of ELRS without needing a new radio.
HD Zero seems to have had a slow, buggy start, but right now, with these batch 2 goggles, things are looking pretty good. In this video, Kris gives his opinions on the good and bad of these goggles, and Kelly (the DJI Fanboy) flies with them for the first time.
In this video, Kris goes over some of the features and the update process of the Emax Aeris Link ELRS Transmmitter Modules. The OLED version, which is micro sized, will fit into the JR module bay of radio's like the TX16s. The smaller nano sized module will fit into radios with a "Lite" module bay.
These 2 RC Monster Trucks are a ton of fun! One has traditional steering with a standard RC and the other has a "tilt" style of steering with a contoller that might be used for a toy drone. These two monster truck toys are different but both really fun to drive. They each come with 2 batteries, USB charging and some cool sound effects. And they are only $40!
We clipped the Insta360 Go3 onto an RC Car and chased it with the Flywoo Nano Baby V2 micro quad. The Go3 does a pretty good job of smoothing out the bumps from the RC car!
At almost 125 lbs in weight, the Eahora Romeo is a beast of an ebike. It has a very powerful motor for speed, a high capacity battery for long range, and 4" fat tires to roll over obstacles in the road. But is it fun to ride? In this video, Kelly, Kris and Wesley from As The Crow Flies @wesleymohawk ride this bike extensively and tell you the good, the bad and the downright amazing things about it. If you are considering an ebike and don't need one that easily fits onto a bike rack, the Eahora Romeo is a very interesting option.
If you are looking for a small, easy to fly camera drone, the DJI Mini 4 Pro is amazing. But if you already own a DJI Mini 3 or even Mini 2, you might be wondering if it's worth the upgrade.
If you are thinking about getting the new DJI Mini 4 but already own a DJI Mini drone, is it worth the upgrade? In this video we compare the amazing DJI Mini 3 Pro to the brand new DJI Mini 4 Pro. How does the camera compare? How does the flight time and weight compare? Is it worth spending the money to upgrade to a Mini 4 if you already own the Mini 3? This video covers those topics to help you decide if the latest camera drone from DJI is worth it or not.
EMAX is releasing it's newest line of "ready to fly" FPV kits and this includes the TinyHawk 3. If you are new to FPV, these kits are a great place to start because they are easy to set up and learn. And if you are a veteran of FPV flying, then you have probably flown, or at least heard of, the EMAX TinyHawk line. It's legendary. This new kit comes with the tiny whoop style quad, transmitter, goggles, battery, and a high quality case to hold it all. And the new TinyHawk uses ELRS radio protocol and HD Zero video transmission, which means an easy upgrade path if you decide to invest in a better transmitter or goggles.
EMAX just announced the brand new ready to fly kit for the TinyHawk 3 Freestyle! This little quad has a fantastic power to weight ratio and is a blast to fly. It's light, nimble frame is perfect for learning to do all kinds of FPV freestyle tricks - and you can do it all in pretty small spaces. This kit comes with HD Zero goggles and a transmitter with the ELRS transmission protocol built in. Everything is ready to go out of the box - so just plug in and take off!
One of the advantages of using your smartphone with your DJI drone is that you can screen record the DJI software to show exactly what the pilot sees. But did you know that you can also screen record with the DJI RC2 on its built-in screen?
Do Freewell filters actually make any difference? In this video, Kris experiments with a few of the filters included in the Mega 16 Pack. The main goal was to get some nice motion blur on a hyper lapse of Austin traffic.
If you are looking for your first drone or buying a drone as a gift and don't know where to start, these two drones are some of the best available and both are easy to get started with. The DJI MINI 4 Pro is a cinematic and photographic power house, allowing you to shoot both horizontal (landscape) and vertical (portrait) video and photos with assistance from a mechanical 3-axis gimbal. The results are amazing. The DJI AVATA is the easiest way to get started flying FPV. It has a very beginner friendly "normal" mode, but also has a more advance "expert" mode that allows you to fly it in new and exciting ways.
If you are looking for a great quality electric skateboard for beginners, the Max5 from MaxFind should be at the top of your list. It has a power hub motor that can handle heavy and light weight riders alike. It also has a flexible deck that is easy on your legs during longer rides. To see what the Max5 can do, check out this full review of this brand new electric skateboard!
Can the Mini 4 Pro compete with the impressive tracking and obstacle avoidance features of the Skydio 2? In this video, Kelly and Kris challenge both drones in different situations to find out which will win the Drone Battle! We used the tracking features of each drone in a parking lot, through a neighborhood, across a bridge and through the woods. There were several surprises during our tests that you won't want to miss.
eBikes are becoming more popular and common. This means that the price is going down on some of them, but is a lower end eBike worth the money? In this video, we review the T6F from a company called EBOT.
If you fly FPV, you know how "grabby" trees can be. Ghost branches, leaves, and even slow reflexes can ruin your drone. In this flight we push the limits of a drone versus a bunch of grabby trees! This flight took place in San Diego a few months ago. Kelly hadn't seen it since doing the flight.
If you have a bind and fly FPV quadcopter with a DJI O3 Air Unit, this video will show you what you need to get it set up for flight. In this video I'm setting up the GEPRC Mark 5 quadcopter, but this video is for any FPV quad that is BNF (bind and fly) and uses a DJI O3 Air unit for video transmission and recording. In this video we take you through the steps you need to get your quad ready to fly!
Are you throwing away money if you buy ready-to-fly FPV kits? There is a case to be made for buying the right RTF FPV kit. In this video we discuss some of the plusses and minuses of a budget-friendly EMAX Freestyle RTF kit: The TinyHawk Freestyle Plus HD kit. We have been flying it for 4 months now and have seen the good and bad of this kit. If you are thinking about buying a ready to fly FPV kit, you'll definitely want to watch this video first!
Want to get into flying FPV quadcopters but not sure how much you should spend? In this video we talk about the different options that anyone new to flying FPV has in terms of price and quality. There are some great options for around $500 and there are also even better options (in terms of quality of video) around $1,500. If you want to get into the FPV drone hobby, this video will help you understand what you get (and don't get) at each price point!
The way I learned to be a better FPV drone pilot was by flying 10 batteries every day for 10 days in a row. To get better at flying indoor FPV, Kris and I decided to set up an obstacle course at the office and see how well we could fly it over the course of 90 minutes. We both flew the Flywoo Cinerace V2 with the DJI O3 video system. These little quads are a ton of fun for indoor flying and the bright LEDs make them especially fun to fly and to watch!
Normally, ducted quads are inefficient, heavy, and quick to drain batteries, but the Flywoo Cinerace20 V2 might have something special going on. While it doesn't do great in the wind, it does provide over 7 minutes of flight time when flying indoors using a high voltage 850mAh lipo battery. There are some annoying downsides with it, so it's not perfect, but we've been having a lot of fun chasing one another around, both indoors and outdoors. The LED lights make it easier to see in the daytime, and look great at night or in a dimly lit room.
Setting up the Flywoo CineRace20 V2 is not complicated, but it can be a little bit fiddly, so we are going to walk you throw the basic setup to get you in the air, as well as share our small adjustment to the yaw expo setting in Betaflight.
There are rumors that we could have version 2 of the DJI AVATA some time in 2024. While the original DJI AVATA has been a workhorse for indoor FPV work at Ready Set Drone in 2022 and 2023, we definitely think that it can be improved. In this video we cover the 8 things we would like to see on the new DJI AVATA 2. Some of the items are badly needed improvements of the existing AVATA and some are completely new game-changing features. Take a look and see if you agree on what the new DJI AVATA should have!
If you have been waiting to try flying FPV drones, the wait is over. The DJI Avata 2 with the RC Motion 3 makes learning to fly FPV the easiest and best experience that it has ever been. Gone are the days of glitchy analog or tiny screens. The DJI Avata 2 pairs with the brand new DJI Goggles 3 to provide beginners and experts alike an amazing FPV flying experience that was not possible until now. Using the RC Motion 3 allows beginner FPV pilots to fly confidently and maneuver the Avata 2 in ways that only an expert FPV pilot could do in the past.
Easy ACRO is a feature of the DJI AVATA 2 when using the DJI Motion 3. It lets you do a few flight maneuvers that are common when flying in manual or acro mode while using a traditional FPV controller. If you want to get into flying FPV, the DJI Avata 2 is a drone that you should consider!
How does the DJI Avata 2 fly in Manual (Acro) Mode? Can you power loop the Avata 2? How is the Avata 2 in a dive? In this video we go through how to set up manual mode on the DJI Avata 2, share our impressions of how it flies with the Remote Controller 3, and try some freestyle tricks with the Avata 2. We were surprised by the results and we think you will be too!
Our Avata 2 footage AND experience in the goggles did not look or feel smooth -- quite choppy and jittery, in some cases, which makes it difficult to fly. We tried DJI's ND8, ND16, and ND32 filters to help smooth everything out. While their filters look great and provide excellent motion blur, our main issue was not resolved. We finally figured out what was going wrong and why the footage looked choppy. In this short video, we explain the problem and show you how to fix it and get the most cinematic footage out of your DJI Avata 2 FPV drone!
If you had told me I would ever actually want to ride a trike, I probably would have called "bull". But that's exactly what happened. Emojo Electric Bikes reached out and asked if I wanted to take their Bull Trike for a spin, and after a month of riding it, I can say that I no longer look down on eTrikes. The Bull is a heavy duty electric trike with large baskets for hauling, a rear differential for tight turns, and a low center of gravity for stability. While some of the components are not high-end, overall it is a well built machine designed for people who want the freedom of a bicycle with the ease and comfort of a tricycle. In this video we check out ever inch of the Emojo Bull electric trike and tell you if it is worth riding or total bull!
The Avata 2 has been all over the news recently, but is it worth getting, especially if you already own the Avata 1? In this video, we discuss the differences between the two in the hopes of giving you useful advice about whether you should keep the Avata 1 and save your money or upgrade to the Avata 2 for a better experience.
If you are looking for a solid electric #scooter that you can use for getting around your neighborhood, campus, or just about anywhere, the Xander Max scooter from #hovsco is worth considering. It's got big, knobby tires that make rough roads feel smooth and feels like a high end product, but at a very reasonable price.
If you live in a place with an abundance of rental scooter options, does it make sense to rent or buy a scooter? In this video we look for rental scooters in downtown Austin and see how easy it is to rent a scooter to get around. We then compare the ride of the rental scooter to the ride of the Hovsco Xander Max scooter and calculate the point at which it makes financial sense to purchase versus rent a scooter.
The Engwe Engine Pro 2.0 checks alot of the boxes that I like on an ebike. Torque Sensor - Hydraulic Brakes - 750 Watt Motor In this video we put this foldable ebike to the test and see if it's as great to ride as it seems on paper.
DJI has made the Motion 3 and Goggles 3 compatible with the Mini 4 Pro. Is there a good combination that creates the optimal flying experience? We tried the Motion 3 and the RC 2 with the Goggles 3 and Mini 4 Pro and have decided that there is definitely a plus to this added compatibility. To learn how to set up your Mini 4 Pro to fly FPV, and what settings to use for best results, check out the video!
Freewell's Mega 16 Pack has some slight color shifts between the filters. Some are noticeable, others, not so much. There is also some vignetting, but there is only one filter with a major color cast. As a side note, Kris has a question about why the Mini 4 Pro's auto exposure doesn't look well exposed when a filter is added.
The Obsidian from Mokwheel is a solid full-suspension, fat-tire eBike with alot of extras. The Obsidian has a 1,000 watt brushless hub motor, hydraulic disk brakes, and a torque sensor for a smoother riding experience. But what kind of bike is the Mokwheel Obsidian? Is it a mountain bike? A road bike? A commuter ebike? In this video we take the Mokwheel Obsidian on many different kinds of rides to see how it does on busy roads and steep, rocky trails. While it does pretty well in different environments, we figured out what the Obsidian is good at doing and what it's not really designed to do.
The EMAX Cinehawk Mini 2.5 is a ducted quad that is perfect for indoor flying. It is lightweight and nimble, making it great for tight spaces and flying around people.
With all the rumors about the DJI Neo floating around, I wanted to share the features I hope it will have.
Emax's Cinehawk Mini is a great little quadcopter, both indoors and outdoors. The prop guards make it ideal for flying around people, and in tight spaces where you might bump up against things. It can handle dives with ease, since it's very responsive, and lightweight, even though it's a cinewhoop. This sub-250 quad comes with either no vtx or a DJI O3 Air Unit installed. You can install your own camera and vtx system if you don't want to use DJI O3 -- the box contains camera mounting options that you can use.
Emax offers their Cinehawk Mini 2.5 with or without the DJI O3 Air Unit. In this video, Kris goes through the process of installing the O3 Air Unit. It's not that difficult, but can be a little bit fiddly at times.
If you want to share live video from your DJI Goggles 2 or Goggles 3, whether you are flying the Avata 1, Avata 2, or a quad with an O3 Air Unit, you'll need an RC Pro (there are probably other hacks, but this is the easiest solution since DJI doesn't have native HDMI out from the goggles).
The Avata 2 and Cinehawk Mini have their pluses and minuses. Both of these drones are DJI and Emax's 2nd gen models, in a sense, and they are both fantastic, but depending on what you intend to do, only one of them might be your best option. In this video, Kelly goes over the details and compares each quad in different scenarios, like camera quality, controllability, ease of flying through small gaps, chasing, and more!
The DJI NEO crosses over between simple-to-use camera drone for new drone pilots and FPV cinewhoop for experienced drone pilots. It can be flown in a wide variety of ways including FPV Controller, Motion 3 Controller, a new DJI Controller, your phone, and even without any controller (or phone) at all - using a single button or your voice! But despite it's seeming simplicity, the DJI NEO can also be flown FPV with the Goggles 3 and can fly in manual (acro) mode for a true FPV experience. The DJI NEO is a category bending drone and will definitely make buying and flying your first drone much easier than it has ever been in the past. And while it has the appearance of a toy, the DJI NEO is not a toy by any means. It comes with all the expertise, technology and quality that you expect from a DJI drone.
The DJI NEO is a fun little quad that is extremely versatile for beginners and experience drone pilots - and we love flying it. But it can only do 30fps when shooting 4K footage. As with DJI's Avatas, we have found that flying at 30 frames per second isn't as comfortable to the pilot in the goggles, and also results in jittery footage. In this video, we show the difference between 1080p/60 and 4K/30 on the NEO and make recommendations as to when it makes more sense to fly in 1080p/60 nd when 4K/30 is the better option.
The DJI NEO is a small, light weight drone that is great for taking selfies and vlogging. But the NEO is also a fun little FPV quadcopter that can loop, flip, roll, dive and hit some pretty small gaps because of it's size. It's small enough to fly in a park or even a back yard. And it's a great way to learn to fly in manual or acro mode. In this video, we show how to get the DJI NEO setup for Manual Mode flying, and then we push the Neo hard while flying acro to see how it does in different flying situations.
If you have regular bikes, ebikes, motorcycles, cars, trucks, one-wheels, or anything else that has tires that need inflating, then look no further. The Etenwolf Vortext S6 is a small air pump that packs a big punch! It quickly inflated all four tires on my SUV, my ebikes, and Kris' One Wheel! It also has a built in light, can be used as an emergency charging battery and charges its own batterys via USB-C. If you are considering a portable air pump, you'll definitely want to watch this video to see what the Etenwolf Vortex S6 can do!
DJI just released the DJI AIR 3S, its latest camera drone in the AIR series. The AIR 3S is a big upgrade from the AIR 3 and features a dual camera system, upgraded obstacle avoidance capabilities, better tracking, and amazing low light capabilities. The AIR 3S not only takes impressive images and video in low light, but also has improved safety features to help the drone navigate better in low light situations. It also has smarter tracking capabilities along with very reliable obstacle avoidance. We tested the AIR 3S in all these situations and found it to be the all around most capable camera drone that we have ever flown!
In this video, Kelly unboxes the Air 3S Fly More Combo (DJI RC2) in a strangely fun, but odd manner. Should you buy the DJI AIR 3S Fly More Combo? This video will definitely help you decide!
This USB-C ThermalMaster P2 was our first experience using a thermal camera. You can't see through clothing (we checked!), but you can check on the temperature of electronics, car engines, air conditioning vents, and more! And it's a ton of fun with drones as well. Also, the different color settings in the Android app, make for a fun experience. We definitely goofed around a lot as well as finding it a useful tool to have.
The Ruko R111 is a compact remote ID module that is both inexpensive and lightweight, coming in at only 14grams and around $35.
The Burchda R5 Pro is a fat tire, foldable electric mountain bike that rides smooth and fast. We had a few challenges with the assembly that we cover in this video. Overall, if you are considering a cadence sensor, fairly low priced, fat tire e-bike, then the Burchda R5 Pro is worth checking out.
If you are new to FPV and need help setting up the DJI NEO, Goggles N3 and Motion Controller, this is the right video! In this video, Kelly unboxes the Goggles N3 and sets them up with the Motion 3 and DJI Neo, which come as a combo kit, and is great for beginner FPV pilots. The DJI Goggles N3 are compatible with the NEO and Avata 2, as of this recording, and offer high quality digital video at a lower cost than DJI's flagship Goggles 3.
DJI's new budget-friendly Goggles N3 are the same great quality of the higher-end Goggles 3, but with some minor tradeoffs. A bonus is that they allow pilots to wear their own glasses while flying with the Goggles N3. In this video we test the Goggles N3 to see how they perform and show some new features that DJI released along with the Goggles N3 - including power loops in easy acro mode!
The DJI NEO is a fun little quad to fly. Because it's small, flying it indoors is a lot of fun, but when you fly through gaps, the lighting isn't always the best. That is when we noticed that it started crashing and going out of control. Darkness seems to be a big weakness for the DJI NEO. In this video we show you what happens when you try to fly in the dark and how to avoid this problem.
If you are looking for an electric scooter that gives you the option to stand or sit while riding the scooter, the iENYRID M4 Pro S+ is a good option to consider. It has 3 very different speed settings, integrated headlight and LEDs, and is very comfortable while standing or sitting to ride. It's also pretty fast and a good value for the price! Check out this full review of the iENYRID M4 Pro S+ and see if it's the right scooter for you!
If you are looking for a smart watch that has all the basic functions (GPS, health monitoring, fitness, connection to your phone, etc.) but don't want to shell out the high cost of an Apple Watch, then the Tank M3 Ultra from Kospet is worth considering. It has all the basic functions (and many advanced functions as well), high quality build, it's waterproof, easy to pair with your phone and is MUCH less expensive than other similar smart watches. And the battery life is INSANE - like over 3 weeks on a charge insane battery life. In this video we show you how the Tank M3 Ultra works, demonstrate some of the things it can do, and dunk it in water to see how it handles the challenges!
Looking for an analog FPV quad for indoor tinywhoop racing? The brand new Tinyhawk Nanoscout from EMAX is very small, very rugged, and a joy to fly. It has smooth motors and handles like a much bigger quad. And with the RTF (ready to fly) kit, you have everything you need to get started flying indoor FPV. EMAX is definitely the king of the tinywhoop indoor 1S racing quads and the brand new Nanoscout is another great offering in the Tinyhawk lineup!
If you don't want to see our full review video of the Emax Tinyhawk Nanoscout, we compiled the crashes and outtakes for you.
The DJI NEO goes absolutely nuts in the dark when flying in normal or sport mode, but in other situations, it's fine. In this video, we show the DJI NEO in different situations flying with different controllers to see how it behaves in the dark. DJI only recommends flying the NEO in well lit spaces, but if you are going to try flying the NEO in dark areas, there are some things you can do to improve your odds of a successful flight! Watch to learn how you can fly the DJI NEO in the dark.
DJI replied to us that we should fly in an open area, which we try in this video. Also, we make a discovery as to what exactly is making it seem like the NEO goes crazy!
The DJI Air 3s has many smart features, but can we trick it? In this video, we try to find the limitations of Return To Home as well as obstacle detection and we see if we can outsmart this drone by flying through trees, indoors, at night, through small gaps and many other challenges.
If you are looking for an E-Bike that is more "bike" and less "e", then the Mesa Lite from Mokwheel is one to consider. It is one of the first affordable ebikes I have ridden that feels more like a bicycle than some kind of motorized behemoth. It is very smooth, not too heavy, and extremely comfortable to ride. Having ridden many bulky ebikes this past year, the Mesa Lite is a breath of fresh air because it truly feels like riding a bike, but with some extra assistance from the brushless hub motor!
Cargo bikes are a different breed of bicycle. And the cargo E-Bike is even more different. If you are looking for an E-Bike to go shopping, carry small children, carry pets and generally haul stuff, then you should check out the Stepwagon from Mukkpet!
Everyone wants to put their best foot forward, including drone companies, but sometimes, these claims are exaggerated. In this video, we want to put some of them to the test with the RUKO F11 Pro 2.
We have reviewed many budget drones, but most low end models don't have a 3 axis mechanical gimbal. The Ruko F11 Pro 2 is more expensive than the $100 to $300 range, and it DOES have a 3 axis gimbal, so the footage is smooth and free from jitters. In this video, we experience this drone as any beginner would, and things go well, as well as poorly (yes, we crashed....TWICE!).
If you are looking to buy your first camera drone for vlogging, you definitely want to check out the DJI Flip. The DJI Flip is simple to fly, safe, and has an impressive camera. And like the name implies, it "flips" open and can be hand launched quickly to get epic shots for vloggers and solo creators. And because it weighs less than 250 grams, the DJI Flip does not require FAA registration for non-professional pilots!
The Air 3s does an amazing job tracking people and vehicles while avoiding obstacles, but there are times when it can fail and crash.
The Air 3S has some fantastic tracking features. In this video, we will show you how to track, how to change settings, and when to use each focus track feature: Active Track, Spotlight, and Point Of Interest.
If you are looking for an eBike that is high quality, low cost, and feels more like a traditional non-motorized bike than most eBikes, the UrbanCross Pro from Vanpowers is definitely worth consideration. It is light weight (for an eBike), sleek, easy to ride and doesn't scream "look at me, I'm an ebike". In fact the UrbanCross Pro is a Type 1 ebike which makes it legal to ride almost anywhere you would ride a normal bicycle.
The DJI Flip is advertised as being a perfect drone for vloggers and solo creators who want to share their adventures, but can you actually use it as your only camera to record an entire video with? We put that to the test in this video by showing you our process of reviewing an e-bike. At the end, we reveal the final result so that you can decide if the Flip is a worthy vlogging camera.
Chasing drift cars using the Emax Babyhawk O3 and GepRC Mark 5 O3 is fun! While both quads did well, the heavier Mark 5 felt better and had more power, giving it the advantage.
The DJI NEO is The Most Versatile Drone because it can do so many things. In this video we show all the ways you can fly it, and why I like it. The NEO isn't the best option for everyone -- in fact it's not the best at anything, but we love it for many reasons including its ability to fly like a toy (just for fun), like a camera drone, like a selfie drone, and to learn to fly FPV. It's also under 250 grams, which means no registration required, AND it is fairly inexpensive (as far as drones go). For the price you really can't beat the DJI NEO as an all around drone-of-all-trades!
If the rumors are right, the DJI Mavic 4 Pro should be coming in 2025. But how can the Mavic 4 Pro improve on the Mavic 3 or the AIR 3S? This video breaks down a list of things we would like to see on the Mavic 4 Pro. While as of early March 2025 we have no idea what the Mavic 4 Pro will hold, we think you will find this list of features interesting, entertaining and maybe even toe-tapping!
If you want an affordable, good quality, electric bike that doesn't weight a ton and can take you on and off road, then the Hovsco HovRanger might be your perfect ebike. The HovRanger has standard 27.5 inch mountain bike tires that fit into most bike racks and it weighs far less than many other ebikes on the market. You can choose if you want things like fenders, a luggage rack etc. For me, I prefer not to have these things and just enjoy the simplest ebike experience that I can have. And the HovRanger is perfect for that. It also has a torque sensor and hydraulic disk brakes, which are a must for an ebike.
The Eahora Juliet Pro II step-through e-bike features an upgraded dual-motor drive system and expanded battery capacity, offering power and speed. While it is fast and powerful, the Juliet Pro 2 is also heavy and more challenging to ride than other ebikes that we have reviewed. So who is the Juliet Pro 2 for? In this video we break down the pros and cons of the Juliet Pro 2, explaining and demonstrating the unique features that make this bike a good choice for some, as well as the challenges it puts on smaller or more novice riders.
If you have considered getting an autonomous lawn mower, then you might consider the ECOVACS GOAT A2500 RTK. It has a long battery life, is nearly silent, and has a ton of cool features that make it useful in a variety of lawn mowing situations. But can a robotic mower do as good a job as a human? And what are some of the things you should consider before investing in a robotic lawn mower? This video will answer those questions and give you a good idea of waht the ECOVACS GOAT can and can't do. There can be only one lawn maintenance GOAT and this may just be it!
The Mokwheel Tarmac e-bike is great for taller riders thanks to its 29-inch tires. A unique feature is that it combines both a torque sensor and a cadence sensor to provide a remarkably smooth and responsive riding experience. At 66 pounds, it's not too heavy to ride off road and lift onto a bike rack.
The HoverAir X1 ProMax is a fantastic drone for tracking you while you're biking. The footage is smooth and the drone can avoid some obstacles, but there are a few things to know to set yourself up for success while riding through trails. In this video Kelly goes over some of the features and a couple of the issues we had with this drone, like recording in 8k.
The Air 3s is pretty darn good at tracking people and vehicles, but can we trick it by changing shirts or wearing similar clothes as each other?
The Etenwolf Zephyr S5 isn't just a great portable air compressor – it's a true multi-tool for anyone on the go! It has a 15,600mAh battery and doubles as a powerful portable power bank! You can fully charge your phone up to four times thanks to its 30W PD fast charging, making it a lifesaver for all your devices.
If you like electric skateboards and want to something new and unique, check out the Uditer Pixel Mini Skateboad with a LED screen for a deck! This video demonstrates how it is to ride the Uditer Pixel Mini, what you can do with the app that drives the LED screen, and gives you real world riding footage to see if the Uditer Pixel Mini Skateboard might be right for you.
Can a 360 degree drone replace your regular camera drone or is it a gimmick? In this video, we explore some reasons why a dedicated 360 degree drone could be a serious alternative to a regular camera drone and speculate about the Antigravity Insta360 drone. We hope that upon release we will learn if it is comparable to DJI in flight time, flight performance, signal strength, camera quality, and overall user experience.
The HoverAir X1 ProMax has some new features, thanks to a firmware update. Version 8.0.17 Side Track now has auto correction. Also, to use Co-Pilot in Side Track, you need to disable auto correction. Co-Pilot now works in all modes, however, in automated flight modes, co-pilot seems to be more of an interruption. You can view stats in real time and you can overlay them after the fact.
The HoverAir X1 ProMax promises a lot, but we’ve encountered issues. In this video, we cover our top 5 reasons that we don’t like this drone.
The HoverAir X1 ProMax has some great features. In this video, we cover our top 5 reasons we like this drone.
If you are looking for a big, rugged, comfortable ebike with plenty of power and a mid-drive motor, the Onyx ST might be just what you are looking for. It's mid-drive motor makes it very smooth to ride and it's hybrid torque / cadence sensor gives you the best of both worlds in terms of riding experience. We took the Onyx ST out on several rocky trails, roads, and paths around Austin to put it to the test. Find out what we liked (and a few things we didn't like) about this ebike.
The Xtra Muse is slightly different from the DJI Pocket 3. In this video, I'll tell you what differences I've found, and show some side by side footage comparisons.
Meet the Troxus TRAX SUV, a great commuter ebike that has a unique feature: A switchable pedal-assist sensor. This ebike lets you choose between a cadence sensor (great for cruising and consistent power) and a torque sensor (perfect for hills, off-roading, and a more intuitive, natural pedaling feel). The Troxus TRAX SUV electric bike transitions effortlessly from your daily commute to weekend adventures. This versatile ebike is designed for both practical transportation and pure riding enjoyment.
These side by side videos from the Xtra Muse and the DJI Pocket 3 are labeled with letters for you to leave your guesses in the comments. This should be a definitive comparison of the two cameras because they are both in auto mode, so this should help reveal the differences, if any, to how each camera deals with different lighting conditions.
This unboxing video will give you information about what’s in the box, some of the features, and how to change a setting that you might find annoying! It's been a while since we had a new DJI drone to review, so we are re-energized to create more Mini 5 Pro videos.
Just a quick video with both cameras in fully automatic mode, showing how each one adjusts to the different lighting environments. Also, the DJI Pocket 3 seems to have a wider field of view than the DJI Mini 5 Pro. The Pocket 3 must be prioritizing getting the exposure on my face, as opposed to making sure no highlights are over-exposed.
If you ride a Mokwheel bike, like our Onyx ST, and need to charge your phone or want to recharge your bike, this portable solar panel and inverter from @mokwheel are a great option.
The Mini 5 Pro is not great in the wind. The battery drops like a rock. The drone itself starts to lose altitude. Sport mode is super slow when the battery is low and fighting the wind.
The Hoverair X1 Pro Max now has Remote ID. This video will show how to update the firmware and find y our RID number. Also, we found out how far away the drone will track a subject on a bike.
Which mini drone is better in the wind? The DJI Mini 4 Pro or the Mini 5 Pro? We got a leaf blower on each drone and compared the footage side by side for you to decide.
The Mini 5 Pro has a Quickshot called "Rotate," which does an automated action, making the camera go upside down. You can also fly manually upside down and rotate the gimbal, making the horizon askew. We will show you some of the settings to make the movement faster, slower, more abrupt, or smoother.
The Mini 5 Pro has some fantastic new features compared to the Mini 4 Pro, but there are some that the older drone has that are actually better, both hardware and software. In this video, we will show you some side by side footage comparison, as well as practical differences between these two DJI quadcopters. The 1-inch sensor on the Mini 5 Pro is noticeably better, but putting on filters can be tricky. The Mini 4 Pro records footage that isn't quite as good, but the filters are so much easier to handle.
The DJI NEO is pretty good at autonomous following and other flights. In this video we tried to fool it by changing our t-shirts and swapped places behind a tree. We also wanted to see what would happed when moving during an automated circle quick snap.
Which drone is best for low light flying: The Air 3S or the Mini 5 Pro? We compare both of them in the city at nighttime. Both drones have a 1 inch sensor and an aperture of f/1.8 which looks great in low light situations. Some features are missing from the Air 3S, like dynamic home point, but the Mini 5 Pro has it only if using the RC 2.
If you are looking for a solid, no-frills commuter ebike, look no further than the Mokwheel Flint. This is a rigid framed ebike with a 350 watt hub motor and a very sleek design. This bike is relatively light weight (for an ebike) and costs less than most other ebikes on the market today. But don't let the low cost fool you, this bike rides very smoothly - thanks to the torque sensor - and feels like a well built bike. It's also very cool looking with a flat black paint job, cables hidden in the frame, and an adjustable handle bar post.
Is this the end of traditional drone framing? The end of mechanical gimbals on drones? Today we’re diving into the DJI Avata 360, the most ambitious consumer camera drone from DJI to date. While the Avata 2 brought FPV to the masses, the Avata 360 changes the game by capturing every single angle of your flight simultaneously - and then reuse every shot in an infinite number of ways!
This is a hands-on exploration of Easy Acro and Head Tracking on the Avata 360 drone.
Even though we did fly the Avata 360 in a somewhat functional manual mode, it's really not a good idea.
The Avata 360 has many plusses and minuses, but in this video, I'm going to share my top 5 things I don't like.
The Avata 360 has many positives and negatives, but in this video, I want to tell you my top 5 things I like about it.
This is a basic overview of the DJI Studio and how I process footage from the DJI Avata 360 drone.

This video is a basic tutorial showing how to export an interactive 360 video that is ready for YouTube. There are some limitations when you edit using the DJI Studio app, namely being limited to one audio track, which means adding music and a voice over is not going to happen. Also, there is currently no crossfade for audio, there is no way to change the length of the fade in and fade out effects for audio, and no way to make audio keyframes for volume automation.
Which filter design do you think is best, Mini 4 Pro or Mini 5 Pro? In this video, we set timers to see how long it takes to put on and take off filters for each drone. The Mini 5 Pro filters are tricky to handle without some practice. The Mini 4 Pro seems more intuitive, but that is just an opinion. Let us know what you think.
The title says it all! We had fun making content with the DJI Avata 360.
