Todd Sharp, coach of the legendary University of Louisville Ladybirds dance team, and the winningest coach in the sport of dance, has one goal, and that is to repeat as National champions. With Nationals 10 weeks away, Todd knows that the Ladybirds are out of shape and in need and of a wakeup call. He selects a physically demanding routine for the upcoming men’s basketball game. How far will Todd push the Ladybirds?
This week Todd is looking to see who has the fire to compete on the Nationals floor. He is forced to make a difficult decision about who holds the center position as best friends Marissa and Rose compete for the top spot. Chloe suffers because she didn’t come to practice prepared, and wannabe Gabrielle, is put in her place by Marissa. In the end, who brings the fire in their performance?
The aftermath of Todd switching center position in last week’s dance sets the tone as Todd pushes the girls to hone their performance skills with a country routine. Gabrielle sees this country number as an opportunity to get into a formation, but does she have what it takes to make it in the routine? Todd’s life outside of coaching is turned upside down when his best friend and trainer, Patrick, agrees to help him lose weight. Rose questions her friendship with Marissa and an incident at the basketball game threatens the Ladybirds’ performance.
Todd pushes the rivalries on the team to test the will of his dancers. Kobie finds herself back at center and it’s not the homecoming she expected. Chloe works hard to get in a challenging hip-hop routine, but struggles with the tricks. Meanwhile, Todd wonders if the Ladybirds have forgotten his birthday.
As illnesses plague the Ladybirds, Todd is stressed and questioning if the girls have the strength it takes to perform at the level he demands this week. Taylor is sick of being in her cousin Kobie’s shadow, and Kayla questions Kobie’s status as team captain. Meanwhile, Rose desperately wants to redeem herself on center but worries Marissa could knock her off the top spot again.
The Ladybirds will be debuting the first half of their Hip-Hop Nationals routine at this week’s game, including an extremely difficult new trick. Kayla and Taylor’s new friendship takes a turn when Taylor hears Kayla has been talking about her behind her back. Meanwhile, Ryleigh strives to get back into Todd’s good graces after questioning his coaching. Can the Ladybirds pull together to perform this challenging routine?
It’s senior night for the Ladybirds as they take on their Jazz Nationals routine. Kayla takes the center spot, but will her knee injury stop her from being able to perform on game day, or worse, stop her from going to Nationals? Todd gets emotional because of his attachment to the seniors and when technical difficulties threaten the performance the team must scramble and regroup. Will the Ladybirds be able to give the seniors an unforgettable last performance?
It’s “Hell Week”, which means instead of partying it up with their classmates on spring break, the girls are in back-to-back rehearsals for Nationals. After not making the formation yet again, Gabrielle’s spot on the team is in jeopardy. Meanwhile, Chloe is struggling through her first “Hell Week” and having difficulties with some of the Hip-Hop tricks. With just three weeks until Nationals, Todd is pushing the Ladybirds to ensure they will come out as champions again. Will the girls be able to survive the pressure of “Hell Week”?
It’s preview week and Todd is crumbling fast under the pressure. His stress comes to a head on preview night, causing an altercation with one of the Ladybirds. Meanwhile, Marissa goes behind Gabrielle’s back and talks to Todd about not bringing her back next year. Chloe struggles to get her headspring up to Todd’s standards, fearing that she won’t make the Nationals team. Will the Ladybirds be able to pull it together and who will show Todd that they have what it takes to dance at Nationals?
The 10 weeks of blood, sweat, and tears has all been leading up to one thing, Nationals. The Ladybirds have touched down in Daytona Beach and are ready to give it their all to defend their double title as National Champions. The pressure proves to be almost unbearable when they struggle with their formations the day before the competition, forcing Todd to come down hard on the team. Kayla lets the stress get to her head and worries about being able to execute her moves in the Jazz section. With their reputation on the line and two titles at stake, can the Ladybirds come together as a team and make history?
