Earth scientists Hank (Richard Denning) and Arturo (Carlos Rivas) travel to the small town of San Lorenzo, Mexico to investigate. Kolchak: The Night Stalker is an American television series that aired on ABC during the 1974–1975 season. It featured a fictional Chicago newspaper reporter who investigated mysterious crimes with unlikely causes, particularly those that law enforcement authorities would not follow up. These often involved the supernatural or even science fiction, including fantastic creatures.
Tonight on MeTV- we offer for your approval what might have been director/producer Dan Curtis’ version of “The Twilight Zone”- in an anthology of three stories- much like his “Trilogy of Terror”- that range from time-travelling sentimentality to frightening horror- in tales that come alive in the “Dead of Night”! This 1977 made-for-TV film is, much like “Trilogy of Terror”, another collaboration of Curtis and Richard Matheson- who either wrote or adapted each story. That’s a bad idea, because as the machine chops up the nasty thing- it multiplies into MORE of them! They discover the perfect way to create more Munchies- not only that, but the little creeps develop an attraction to -women! Gwengoolie better look out- as she and Nosty and Imp get to work to provide an assortment of fun to snack on!
The Sven Squad presents another Henson masterpiece of fantasy- as Jen and Kira-two Gelflings of the Mystic race- must try to restore order to their world, and defeat the evil ruling race known as the Skeksis by restoring a powerful crystal which originally cracked and created the two races. Gwengoolie, the Imp, and Nostalgiaferatoo take over to present an eerie comedy in which a family inherits a house, which has an unusual book among its inventory. Waldemar, an vampire and his wife Yolanda, however, want to gain possession of the house because they know that said book has evil power- which becomes apparent when the son of the new owners starts turning its pages- which unleashes monsters! Not only that, but it causes weird things to happen in the house. Soon, added to the mix is none other than Van Helsing- but he has his own agenda. It all concludes with a horrid housewarming party and a showdown between Van Helsing and Waldemar! This movie is mainly a spoof of classic horror films ( and NOT the “Friday the 13th” franchise)- and stars real-life couple Richrd Benjamin and Paula Prentiss- and some familiar TV and movie actors. The Sven Squad has their own take on the proceedings, and more- guaranteeing a fun time!
Nostalgiaferatoo returns with the rest of our Sven squad, Gwengoolie and the Imp, to present the 1981 musical monster mash-up “The Monster Club”. This movie is loaded with rock and roll, as Vincent Price and John Carradine share supernatural stories in a special night club for creatures of the night. The stories include the tale of a woman in financial need who gets involved with a mysterious hybrid creature; a son who discovers his father is a vampire, being pursued by vampire-killers, led by Donald Pleasance; and a movie director who finds the location he is scouting for his next picture is frighteningly more of a real horror than he bargained for. Plus, there are several music performances at the club- not to mention Gwengoolie leading her own musical number. There’s a lot more fun from our Sven Squad who are happy to make you a part of the club!
