All Things Must Pass, heißt es bei George Harrison - alles geht mal zu Ende, und in dieser Schlußfolge geht es auf sonderbare Weise und ziemlich schnell vorbei. Die Musik bleibt Spitze bis zum Schluß (wie immer ... manche sagen sogar besser, angesichts der Qualität von Abbey Road, womit diese verblüffende Geschichte ausklingt) und obwohl unter den Beatles nach dem "White Album", "Let It Be", "Hey Jude" und "Revolution", nach zwei Hochzeiten, zwei Verhaftungen und dem Konzert auf dem Hochhaus bitterer Streit ausbrach, steigerten sie gleichzeitig ständig die Qualität ihrer Arbeit. Die Beatles haben ihren Erfolg und ihre Ära überlebt und haben sich ihre Modernität, Zeitlosigkeit und Überlegenheit bewahrt - ungeachtet aller Widrigkeiten. Paul, George und Ringo können sich immer noch an einen Tisch setzen und die größte Romanze des 20. Jahrhunderts noch einmal durchleben. Diese letzte Folge weicht keinem Thema aus und zeigt die Reibereien und Risse auf, die ihr gemeinsames Leben in den 60ern beendete. Doch sie ermutigt uns alle, an Zauberei zu glauben. Denn es ist und bleibt für immer Zauberei: Alchemie in zugänglicher, menschlicher Form. Wie zu Beginn der acht wundervollen Videos bereits gesagt: Es ist schier unglaublich. Und doch waren es zehn Stunden unwiderleglicher Beweise.
All things must pass, as the man said in this final episode, things are passing strange and fairly fast. The music holds out till the end (as good as gold, as good as ever better even, some might say, bearing in mind the quality of Abbey Road, which ends this stunning story) and the Beatles, having worked through the White album, Let It Be, Hey Jude and Revolution, two weddings, two busts an the rooftop concert equal Gilbert and Sullivan in the level of acrimony and the heightened quality of the work that was done through it and despite it all. The Beatles have survived their success and survived their era to remain modern, timeless and supreme against all comers. Paul, George and Ringo can still sit around a table and relive the twentieth century's greatest romance. This final tape evades nothing and reveals the rents and splits that ended their 60's life together but it cannot avoid encouraging all of us to believe in magic.
