A down-on-his-luck film critic named Jay Sherman who gets no respect at home or at work, reviews pathetic movies in his spare time.

The Critic conta a história de Jay Sherman, um crítico de cinema derrotado. Calvo, gordo e divorciado, o personagem principal vive com seu filho em um apartamento. Dos mesmos produtores de "Os Simpsons", The Critic foi ao ar nos Estados Unidos de 1994 a 1995. No Brasil foi exibido pelo canal Locomotion (1996-2005). É um desenho que, assim como Os Simpsons, arranca muitas gargalhadas!

El Crítico (The Critic) es una serie animada que fue por transmitida por la ABC en 1994 y después por la FOX en 1995. El show fue creado por Al Jean y Mike Reiss, productores y guionistas en Los Simpson. El show fue producido por Gracie Films en asociación con Columbia Pictures, y fue animada por Film Roman. Fue cancelada dos años después; se produjeron algunos episodios para la Internet, las cuales se incluyeron como extra al DVD. La serie se enfoca en la vida del crítico de cine Jay Sherman. En cada episodio había parodias de una o dos películas de estreno (en la época) reciente.
