The Fall Guy

Colt Seavers ist ein gefragter Stuntman, der einen gefährlichen Nebenjob pflegt: Für die Untersuchungsrichterin Samantha Jack sucht er Kriminelle, die nach Zahlung der Kaution untertauchen. So zum Beispiel Cramer, der völlig betrunken ein Kind tot gefahren und sich dann, nach Zahlung seiner Kaution, in seine Heimatstadt Elmo abgesetzt hat. Nun soll Colt Cramer zurückbringen. Doch Cramer ist in Elmo ein einflussreicher Mann: er ist nicht nur Sheriff - ihm gehört die halbe Stadt.

Big Jack sends Colt, with Howie, to find a driver who was responsible for a hit-and-run that hospitalized a young child, and who has since jumped bail. Arriving in a small backwater town, Colt discovers that the man is actually a crooked sheriff, and finds himself up against the entire town's police force.

En route pour un plateau de tournage, Colt Seavers, cascadeur professionnel hollywoodien, aperçoit une luxueuse voiture noire renverser un jeune garçon qui roule à bicyclette. 'Big Jack', le patron de Colt, repère le chauffard : il s'agit de John Cramer. Lorsque l'enfant décède de ses blessures, Cramer, qui a été inculpé, parvient à se soustraire à la justice. Colt Seavers est chargé de prouver sa culpabilité.
