Betty Smith lets a man identifying himself as Chad's old Army buddy into the house to wait for her husband. Chad learns he's a murderer recently out of prison.
Betty Smith riceve la visita di un uomo che si presenta come George Davis, un vecchio compagno d'armi di Chad, e lo fa entrare in casa per aspettare il manto. Intanto, al comando di polizia, Chad apprende dalla telescrivente che l'assassino Johnny Burges, da lui arrestato, è uscito di prigione. Quando telefona a Betty, viene informato che c'è una “sorpresa” che lo attende.
