From Season 3 onwards, The X-Files confidently emerged as a cult drama and a social phenomenon. This led to a surge of similar dramas, and previously taboo subjects entered the mainstream of society. The X-Files' unique focus on aliens, coupled with its worldview of distrust in the government and paranoia in everyday life, reflected the zeitgeist of the era. Most notably, Season 3 of The X-Files featured comedy episodes led by Darin Morgan, the brother of writer Glen Morgan, and self-reflective episodes. These self-reflective episodes broke the boundaries of previous TV dramas, and the show finally began to win Emmy Awards, which are considered the Academy Awards of television.
