Nicolei har levet et hårdt liv og vil egentlig gerne herfra, men et løfte til hans mor holder ham i live: Han skal passe på sin uregerlige lillebror Jens. De to brødre bor i en hytteby i et skovbryn i Kolding blandt udsatte danskere. Livet er skævt, men rummer også drømme og vilje.
