本季战场转移到了涅布伦星(Nebulon)，并与当地人共同开发出了“头领战士”（Headmaster）与“标靶战士”（Targetmaster）两种新技术。与《头领战士》剧情不同的是：赛伯坦没有被毁灭，反而是以赛伯坦被注入新能源而光复，汽车人获得最后胜利而霸天虎流亡作结。因为美方制作《变形金刚》第四季的时候，并没有预计日本制作了《变形金刚：头领战士》，所以后来日本制作并用以衔接《变形金刚》第三季的《变形金刚：头领战士》被当作另一套独立世界观。日本则没有播出《变形金刚》第四季。
