Africa's Trees of Life

Das besondere Zusammenspiel von typischen afrikanischen Bäumen und Tieren ist das Thema dieser Dokureihe. So zeigen Zeitrafferaufnahmen und Luftbilder aus ferngesteuerten Hubschraubern, wie sich zum Beispiel der riesige Marulabaum im Laufe der Jahreszeiten verändert, wie er als wichtigster Zufluchtsort für Leoparden dient sowie als Lebensraum oder Nahrungsquelle für Vögel, Insekten, Fledermäuse, Antilopen, Paviane und Elefanten. Für die Dreharbeiten im nördlichen Krüger-Nationalpark sowie im sogenannten „Tuli-Block“ zwischen Botsuana, Südafrika und Simbabwe begleitet das Filmteam unter anderem zwei ausgewählte Leoparden insgesamt 24 Wochen lang fast täglich, wobei sich die Drehtage über das ganze Jahr verteilen. Neben fliegenden Kameras kommen dabei auch Kräne und Nachtsichtgeräte zum Einsatz. (Text: mm)

Brand new three-part series ‘Africa’s Trees of Life’ tells three stories of the endurance and survival of Africa’s most iconic natural history symbols – from predators to prey, extreme environments and legendary trees. A pride of lions, a territorial leopard and a cheetah mother play out their lives in the shadows of three impressive trees – the sausage tree in the Luangwa Valley in Zambia, the Acacia camel thorn in the Kalahari in South Africa, and the marula tree in the Manyeleti near the Kruger National Park. This is the incredible story of the hunters and the prey that depend on these remarkable trees – the trees of life.

En ambientes tan extremos como la sabana o el desierto, la presencia de un árbol puede significar la diferencia entre la vida y la muerte, tanto para depredadores como para presas.
