Two fires have razed it to the ground, floods have lapped at its doorstep and devastated its community – but 125 years on, the Bundaberg Distillery is not only surviving, it is flourishing. The Australian rum, which bears the name of its hometown, was created by a band of sugar millers in 1888, when faced with an overwhelming oversupply of molasses. We look into the culture, the processes, the innovation and the community that make Bundaberg Rum unique. Just like the lives of the people who live there, it’s a story of ingenuity, grit and determination.
