Walter Melon (Achille Talon em francês) e o seu assistente, Erastus Bitterbug, gerem uma empresa "Heróis de Aluguel". Quando um herói se mete em problemas, ele fica doente ou é vítima para o mais recente plano do respectivo vilão, Melon substituí-lo temporariamente, às vezes sozinho, às vezes na companhia de Bitterbug, e nessa altura os dois heróis estão com problemas.
