以一种“妖怪”在过往历史中的文字记载作为基本背景，整体讲述逻辑按照时间顺序，循序渐进地讲述“妖怪文化”随着中国历史渊源和发展不断流传至今的过程。本纪录片将从历代古籍、民间传说、志怪小说、妖怪文学等文献资料中抽丝剥茧，选取三到四段最贴合单集主题的“妖怪故事”展开叙事，用解说词+角色对白双重形式，层层推进，烘托主题。添加风格化音乐背景，使纪录片整体更加轻快灵动、年轻化。本片每集重在讲述“妖怪文化”的历史变迁，旁白以简洁的文字描绘了一个个奇幻、神秘又略有可爱的“妖怪故事”，展现了“妖怪文化”在中国历史上伴随华夏文明的成长与变迁
