Каждая серия сериала - это история из жизни семьи, приехавшей на Украину из России. Йохан Карлсон, швейцарец по рождению, женился на русской красавице Марии из российской глубинки – города Орла. Он убеждён, что любить по-русски – это значит страдать, и героически терпеть все глупости жены, потакая ей во всём; находит в этом некий кайф и уверяет себя в том, что открыл важнейший секрет загадочной русской души.
