説教好きで、おせっかいで、ウソもつくけど憎めない、超マイペースなおじいちゃん「ジイジ」。片岡英吉は親子の縁を切ったまま、3年前に一人息子に先立たれ、福島で1人暮らし。その英吉が死んだ息子の家に突然現れ、一緒に暮らすことに。長い間、会ったこともない嫁と孫たちは大迷惑。西田敏行が演じる「ジイジ」のパワフルな行動と、自分の死を意識した切実な思いが、笑いと涙を誘う。温かくて心にしみいるファミリードラマ。
