J.C.Staff is an animation studio. Their first release was the three episode OVA Sengoku Kidan Youtouden, which they later cut into a single episode for movie release. They continued with producing anime exclusively in OVA and limited release movie form until 1997, when they made Maze (an extended version of the OVA from the previous year) and Shoujo Kakumei Utena, both shown on TV Tokyo. Since then they've been major players in the TV anime market, with as many as eight series airing each year.
