Den landsflyktiga prinsessan Laya har som liten flicka tvingats lämna Hawaii och fått sin uppfostran i Frankrike. Hon upptäcker att hon till det yttre är lik den parisiska revystjärnan Suzanne Provence och bestämmer sig för att återvända till sitt hemland, inkognito och förklädd till fröken Provence. Som resesällskap har hon den berömde clownen Jimmy Boy.
