Biopic qui retrace l'ascension fulgurante de ce fils d'immigrés arméniens d'origine modeste, qui connut la célébrité dans les années 1950 avec des titres comme La Bohème, Hier encore et For me formidable avant de collaborer avec toute la crème de la chanson française de l'époque : Édith Piaf, avec qui il fit une tournée aux Etats-Unis, Gilbert Bécaud ou encore Johnny Hallyday et Sylvie Vartan à qui il prêta sa plume.
