Wie schon in “Deutschland privat – Eine Anthologie des Volksfilms”, dem Vorgänger aus dem Jahr 1980, handelt sich hier um eine Kompilation verschiedener, privater Filmaufnahmen. Damals hatte Robert van Ackeren per Zeitungsanzeige dazu aufgerufen, dass Privatleute ihre Amateurfilme einschicken.
