罗曼一家生活十分贫寒，自己做汽车教官的微薄收入根本无法让家人过上舒适的生活。做中学教师的妻子虽然毫无怨言，但看到儿子比尔整日为没有一辆自行车而苦恼，女儿妮基为没有新衣服而发愁时，罗曼心里还是十分不舒服，于是更加拼命的工作。但他不知道，更大的厄运正在等待着他。原来，在十六年前，罗曼是美国联邦调查局的一名特工，为了抓住国际毒枭古斯曼，他和同事安吉洛夫、丹妮拉费尽心血，几经周折终于在西班牙捕获了古斯曼。
