Swifty is framed for the murder of Alec MeNiel by the Lawyer Cheevers and the stepson Price. Then they incite the locals to form a lynch mob, but Swifty has an unexpected ally in the Sheriff who knows Price was after his stepfather's land.
A la recherche de travail, Swifty Wade, un cowboy vagabond, vient demander un emploi à Alec McNeil, propriétaire du plus grand ranch de la région, juste avant qu'il ne soit tué dans une embuscade. Son fils adoptif, Price, le contremaitre du ranch et Givens, un employé, accusent Swifty du meurtre. Celui-ci échappe de justesse au lynchage grâce à l'intervention du vieux shérif Dan Hugues, qui était l'ami de McNeil.
