Joaquín Martínez was a Mexican-born film, theatre and television actor who often appeared in Westerns, typecast in roles that stereotyped Latinos, Native Americans, and Mexicans. Martínez is likely best known for his performance as the Indian character Paints His Shirt Red in Sydney Pollack’s 1972 film Jeremiah Johnson
