They find them and a shoot out occurs and the police shoot a suspect to a killing. Night falls and a call comes in for a commercial structure fire. Eng. 3's "A" Shift is 1st in on a Antique Store fire owned by a hoarder.

    The four man crew staffs the Tower Ladder Truck, The USAR Rig that is used for Water Rescue; The 48 hour shift starts out with a the team going over the equipment necessary for finding victims of an earthquake. A call comes in, something has been found in the canal. The Team responds in the USAR rig. They dive to the bottom of the canal to see if this is a recovery effort.

The next day they are called in to a large apartment fire and perform 'Salvage". They is where Firemen do their best to protect and preserve the belongs at the homes where there is a fire incident.

    The 2nd half of this 48 with Eng. 3's "A" Shift of the Fresno Fire Department. A call comes in, they are out the door, they arrive on-scene to a vehicle accident, no one is hurt. Next up, they are dispatched to a vehicle fire, they arrive on scene to find a Hummer fully in flames. Back to the station for a quick dinner, then, an EMS call, then, a fire at a homeless camp.

    The night starts with a structure fire started by an electrical problem created by a contractor doing an re-model. Late afternoon, a hot-water heater fire in a garage destroys a birthday of a young girl. Then the next night, a call comes in for a commercial fire at an office complex, this is where we first meet Captain Oney Durney, nearing retirement and a true Fireman's, Firemen.

    We meet the crew from Engine 9 with Captain Karey Wedemeyer on the B" shift of the Fresno Fire Department. It's a structure fire, at this fire the Captain meets up with her husband, a Captain on Engine 3's "B" Shift. Once again, you'll see Captain Durney, he may be close to retirement, but that does not stop him from doing all he can, all of the time.

    Firefighter Keola Park of the Fresno Fire Department who you've see on Engine 3, is now part of the water rescue and USAR teams. Night, a call comes in, a man is standing on a giant road sign attached to the crossing bridge high above the California 99 Highway, and he's cutting his wrists, the road is closed in both ways and he's got an audience and a rescue is needed.

    1st call of the morning is an EMS call, a young woman is pregnant and out of breath, she has Asthma. The Paramedics arrive and assist the crew as they administer medication, pack her up for transport to the ambulance. A call comes in about smoke in a local restaurant in the Tower District They check with the thermal imager to see if they can locate where the smoke is coming from.

    At Station 5, of the Fresno Fire Department it's the first morning of this 48 hour shift. A call comes in that neighbors are calling in, they see smoke. Engine 5 arrives on scene, the 1st In, and they pull a line, Mike is on the nozzle, and we go into the fire with Mike as he enters the garage, and it's blazing.

    Another call comes in, it's a vegetation fire, Engine 5 of the Fresno Fire Department responds. They arrive on-scene of a huge vegetation fire along the freeway. Engine 9 takes the top road. The Department of Forestry rigs are on there way and they stop to help, but have to hit the road before the fire gets under control. Zippy, the Driver/Engineer on Engine 5 finds out he has made Captain.

  • S01E13 A day with Traveler David Ramirez at Engine 3

    Travelers are Firefighters without a Station for a home, and they cover all firefighters at all the stations in a Battalion. A fire alarm goes off, and the firemen arrive on scene to find a leak. They find the main valve and take care of the problem. A call comes in for a structure fire, and the firemen arrive on-scene to find a homeless person operating a BBQ inside a vacant home.

  • S01E14 48 hours with Captain Durney

    This is 48 Hours is with Capt. Oney Durney of the Fresno Fire Department at Station 13. This firefighter has been with the department for many years. He's nearing his retirement and trying to get as much time on the job that he loves so much before he has to retire. This guys is on both the USAR and Water Rescue team, we find him on Trucks and Engines, and he still tries to be first-in.

    We finish up a 24 hour shift with the crew from Engine 9 finishing with a morning structure fire. The next 24 hours back at Station 9 with firefighter Robert Castillion, he just made Captain at the busiest station in Fresno, Station 3. A call comes in, it's a rubbish fire which the company handles. Then it's night and another call and they are in on this mattress warehouse fire.

We arrive on scene of a Gang Shooting.

    6:00AM, a call comes in to the Fresno Fire Department.. The crew arrives to find that the victim in a possible suicidal attempt is a close friend of the Captain. Back to the station, a little time to tend to the yard, and a call comes in for a vehicle accident.

    Engine 13, arrive at the canal where they find the crew from Station 4 of the Fresno Fire Department with their USAR Rescue Rig. A call comes in as an incident at the river. They hook up the boats, the Engine and the Rescue Truck pulling the boats head for the river, and they begin their search for what is now said to be something floating in the river.

This case is particularly challenging because the gentlemen is hard of hearing and does not want to go to the hospital. The crew stay with him for hours until his sugar is stabilized.

    Battalion Chief Birkhimer shows us around the 1st Battalion as he makes his rounds around his Fire and Rescue Battalion. He stops in at Station 10 for a quick meeting. The Captain explains how they take care to keep the Bunker Gear free of pathogens in their cleaning and storage methods. Then, we arrive at Headquarters for a Chiefs meeting and we ride with the crew of Rescue 17.

  • S03E02 A day with Engine 17

    A day with Engine 17 of the Columbus Fire department. We go to a rescue of a vehicle accident in the rain. They discover that the driver is high on Heroin. We ride with Medic 17 as they response to a homeless person at the tracks. Back at rescue, they're dispatched to a vehicle accident and have to bring out the cutter tools and jaws of life for a difficult extrication.

    We ride with the crew on Engine 15. 1st call and it's a medical. The police have had to detained the prospective patience because he got out of control and the police have to help stabilize him. We ride with this patient through the ER doors. The next call is a young man on a very small motorcycle he is hit by a car. After stabilizing him get him ready for transport and secure him to the gurney.

  • S04E01 Fire Training at the Tampa Airport

    Training at an Airport is the most critical training needed in the world. We start with a tour of this beautiful station and it's amenities for these firefighters. These 1st Responders only have seconds before a plane my burst into flames.

  • S04E02 Engine 1 trains crew

    Today we ride with the crew on Engine 1 from headquarters. We head over to the training tower for some hose training. First is the grueling training regiment running a high rise up flights of stairs. Followed by a medical call from a homeless shelter. Later on the night shift a motorcyclist speeding on a very high overpass flips over the wall and falls 300 feet to the ground and needs assistance.

A medical call comes in and it may be a person that had a heart attack. Engine 4 arrives on scene.

    Today, we ride with the Assistant Chief of Mexicali Fire in Baja California Mexico. Firemen here have with no funding and have no tools except what they bring from home. A call comes in and it's the report of a bomb in a vehicle. The engine company responses but despite the hardships we see the dedication of the local firemen.

  • S05E03 Engine 51 crew catches fires

    Day breaks at the station. We see what the local firemen there have to do to have hand tools and what they have to do to keep them secure. Later after noon, we are at a small station in and industrial park, barely two rooms and a bathroom, and they run there Rescue Squad out of here with an old engine.
