私たち夫婦は共働きで、お互いが生粋の仕事人間だ。結婚してから約10年、平日はろくに話す時間も顔を合わせる時間もない。休日はお互いどちらかがゴルフだったり、疲れていたり…。ただ、同じ空間に二人で住んでいる。 半年前、私は夫に一つの提案をした。それは、「週末の二人旅」に出かけることだ。平日の疲れを癒す、という目的ももちろんあるが、旅をすれば嫌でもずっと一緒にいる。「なんでもいい。そこでお互いが思っていることを素直に話そう」というのが一番の理由だった。夫はあっさりと了解した。結婚10年目、私と夫の「週末二人旅」が始まった。
