As the Christmas season takes hold, Meg decides to spend more time with Luke, venturing to the rough streets of North Philly (with Roxanne) to hear him play with a local Church choir. Meanwhile, JJ catches the eye of a slightly older and more experienced country club employee and sneaks out of the house, just as Meg is sneaking in. Catching on to both of his older children's escapades, Jack implores a slightly uneven standard of discipline, by grounding Meg, but saying virtually nothing to J.J. Angering the family's growing feminist Helen. Patty finds out that Will broke the Virgin Mary, and replaces it with a slightly larger version. Elsewhere, Henry enjoys the recent success his advertising ideas have brought the store, but a few choice words from an over-eager friend leaves Jack concerned he might leave.

De son côté, Henry se réjouit du récent succès que ses idées de publicité ont apporté au magasin...
Meg va di nascosto con Roxanne in una zona malfamata della città per ascoltare Luke, impegnato con un coro parrocchiale. JJ invece si incontra con una donna più grande di nome Colleen. Jack pretende dai due figli maggiore disciplina, ma rimprovera soltanto Meg, facendo arrabbiare Helen. Patty scopre che Will ha rotto la statuetta della Madonna.
Com a chegada do Natal, Meg decide passar mais tempo com Luke, se aventurando junto com Roxanne, pelas ruas de North Philly para ouvi-lo cantar no coral da igreja. Enquanto isso, JJ sai escondido para um clube onde não é permitida a entrada de adolescentes e acaba encontrando com Meg que também foi ao mesmo clube escondida. Jack então passa um sermão para Meg, mas não diz nada para JJ, deixando Helen furiosa.
