清朝初年，年幼的福临继承帝位，号顺治（朱泳腾 饰）。蒙古可汗女儿金蟾（倪睿思 饰）入宫后被封为格格，后被太后（博弘 饰）许配给十一阿哥博穆果尔（施丹江 饰），顺治懊恼不已，因为他暗恋金蟾许久。相处一段时间，金蟾发现十一阿哥心术不正，为人轻浮，她不甘嫁给他。金蟾的父亲曾救过多尔袞（寇振海 饰）的命，他为了不让金蟾知道真相，极力设计想把她早日嫁出去，伹他所有的安排都被聪明的金蟾一一化解。太后有意安排选多罗（林青 饰）为皇后，多尔袞却推荐了蒙古王公吴克善的女儿富察珍儿（沈力子 饰），顺治闻讯心灰意冷。多尔袞狩猎被人做了手脚，结果活活被马拖死，其下人树倒猢狲散。多罗与顺治大婚后生下皇子，金蟾不愿再留宫中，她决定回到大草原去，顺治闻讯不再留恋皇位，决定出家……
