2016 VH1 Hip Hop Honors: All Hail The Queens

The return of Hip Hop Honors after a six-year hiatus was huge, but with a surprise from Diddy and some major beef getting squashed, this year was bigger than ever. All Hail The Queens opened up live from David Gefffen Hall at Lincoln Center with an incredible dance tribute to some of honoree Missy Elliott's best verses, performed by Remy Ma, Nelly Furtado, Trina and host Eve. Naughty By Nature honored Queen Latifah, who performed a medley of her own greatest hits, and Keke Palmer, Ashanti and Dreezy pushed it with a performance of Salt-N-Pepa featuring DJ Spinderella's hottest singles. Teyana Taylor, Dej Loaf and Lil Mama channeled their inner Queen Bee for a tribute to Lil' Kim alongside The LOX and French Montana, and Kim stepped it up and performed her own medley. The support in the room was incredible - Common and #BlackLivesMatter activists Darnell Moore + Alicia Garza reminded us about the importance of community, justice and joy. First Lady Michelle Obama thanked Queen Latifah and Missy Elliott for their support of 'Let Girls Learn.' Plus Phylicia Rashad, Fantasia, Monica, Tweet, Fat Joe, Kelly Rowland, Amber Rose, Keyshia Cole, La La Anthony, Winnie Harlow, DJ Vashtie Kola, Rich Homie Quan, Rah Digga, Lady of Rage, Da Brat, Yo-Yo, Monie Love, MC Lyte, Omari Hardwick, Lela Loren, Dascha Polanco, Jazmine Sullivan and more showed up to honor these amazing artists' careers. The night ended with our honorees and some female hip hop pioneers onstage together as Queen Latifah performed her hit "U.N.I.T.Y." All Hail The Queens indeed.
