Young Father Dvorak returns as a parish priest to the church of his childhood. St. Theresa's is now old and neglected and he tries to convince the bishop that even though the church is in a neighborhood that is now almost completely industrialized, it is worth renovating. Father Dvorak tries to stir up some interest in his campaign by attempting to grow grass in the sooty barren plot of ground in front of the church.
