Long John Silver is the proud captain of his ship, the Faithful, sailing from the fictional port city of Porto Bello. He and his buccaneer crew cruise the waters of the Caribbean, often staying on the side of the British while fighting the French and Spanish. After their adventures, the crew gathers at the Cask & Anchor, the tavern owned by Miss Purity Pinker, where she and Long John take care of their ward, Jim Hawkins. In the United States, the series was syndicated in 1956 on an irregular basis and completely random order as part of another show. Several episodes were edited together and shown as movies in cinemas under the titles "Under the Black Flag" and "South Sea Pirates." In 1957, the series aired in the UK on the ITV Network. In 1958, Australia's ABC network aired the series as part of its Children's TV Club show.
