The Flight of the Condor: Ice, Wind and Fire

Die Serie wurde von Michael Andrews ins Leben gerufen und produziert. Er kannte die Anden schon seit 20 Jahren. Mit Hilfe der Ausrüstung und Erfahrung der Weltbekannten BBC Natural History Unit und fünf Wildniss-Kameraexperten, filmte er über einen Zeitraum von 18 Monaten ein ungewöhnliches Portrait von einer nur wenig bekannten, jedoch wunderschönen und intensiven Welt. Die Serie aus drei 45-Minuten Teilen zeigt aus der Vogelperspektive des Kondors eine Landschaft aus atemberaubender Schönheit und Kontrasten. Die Anden dehnen sich über eine kontinuierliche Linie von 4500 Meilen aus und formen dabei die längste Bergkette der Welt. Die Serie folgt diesem Grat von Südamerika von Tierra Del Fuego im Süden, durch die Küstenwüsten von Chile und Peru, bis zum schneebedeckten Gipfel des Cotopaxi am Äquator und dem Regenwald am Rande des Amazonas. Musikalisch begleitet wird der Flug des Kondors von den zwei Chilenischen Bands “Inti Illimani” und “Guamary”. Beide Gruppen verwenden ausschließlich indigene Instrumente die für Südamerika typisch sind und erzeugen dabei eine unvergleichliche Atmosphäre.
