SDガンダムのメディアフランチャイズの一部であるこのアニメは、当時バンダイから発売されていた人気のガシャポンカプセル玩具とモデルキットをベースにしています。 ショーツは当初、ガンダムのキャラクターとメカの超変形した形をしたガンダムフランチャイズのパロディーストーリーとキャラクターです。 1989年のモビルスーツSDガンダムの反撃から、既存のSDガンダムのおもちゃ、カードダスのトレーディングカード、マンガシリーズをベースに、特にコマンドガンダム、ナイトガンダム、武者ガンダムのサブフランチャイズから定期的に登場するSDガンダムのキャラクターのセットが登場し始めました。 。
