McGill (Richard Bradford) war einer der härtesten TV-Helden der Seriengeschichte. Arguably the finest series ever put out in the 1960s by Lew Grade's ITC stable, MAN IN A SUITCASE features Richard Bradford as McGill, a discredited ex-CIA agent who is reduced to working for hire as a private investigator. Travelling the world, McGill works as a 'gun for hire', often coming into conflict with his employers due to his strong sense of personal integrity and zero tolerance for shady dealings.

Agent de la CIA en poste à Londres, McGill, accusé à tort d'avoir trahi son pays, est contraint de démissionner des services secrets. Voulant à tout prix être réhabilité, il devient détective privé et accepte de résoudre toutes les affaires qu'on lui propose pour la somme de 500 dollars par jour plus les frais. Se déplaçant un peu partout en Europe, il n'a qu'un seul bagage : une valise contenant quelques vêtements et son arme.
