Over the summer of 2008, the The Nostalgia Critic put out a search for a female counterpart. After the contest was over, it turned out that counterpart would be none other than Lindsay Ellis a.k.a. TheDudette a.k.a. The Nostalgia Chick. Several episodes have been produced by Lindsay. The show started out much like that of her male counterpart. The only difference? She reviewed the shows and movies targeted to female audiences since Doug had never watched them growing up. In fact, that was how the search for the Nostalgia Chick began. In August of 2008, Doug got tired of getting requests for shows he never saw since he is a guy. So, a contest was held to find the Nostalgia Chick. Lindsay won and in no time at all, the series began.
